The rule is to encourage students to finish college so they have a degree to "fall" back onto. That I agree with, however, if the student has graduated, the rule should be amended to not pertain to them.

I don't believe the rule applies to players that have already graduated college. I think the article made a mistake, when it said the rule does apply to those that have graduated. I think Datone Jones and Johnathan Franklin were able to ignore the rule because they had already graduated.
