I was playing my favorite mock draft game last night and it reached #27 in the first round, and both Reggie Ragland (LB) and Andrew Billings (DT) were available. So I picked one and then immediately traded up to get the other. Problem was I had to include a future first (in this case the 2018 pick) along with this year's second, fourth, and fifth to move all the way up from #26.
But it got me thinking of a question for discussion here. For whom, if anyone, would you trade a future first round pick to get, and would you ever give up a future first to get someone else AFTER you picked someone at #27 in this year's first?
I think about the only players I'd do it for in this year's draft (apart from one of the top 10 picks falling a la Aaron Rodgers), would be Billings and two of the Big Ten OTs, Jack Conklin and Taylor Decker.
(FWIW, after taking both Ragland and Billings, that particular mock draft also yielded speed at WR (Will Fuller AND Kolby Listenbee AND Charon Peake), Thomas Duarte at TE, Jordan Howard at RB, Eric Striker at OLB/ILB and Matt Judon at DE/OLB). No OL help, though. 😞
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
