Davis has been a bum the past two years in San Francisco and Denver. My tightend target would be Ladarius Green from the Chargers. Been stuck behind Gates for a few years, but has shown he can play.

This is one instance where I'd bet the Chargers are wishing Gates would have just called it quits.

As far as Davis goes, I wouldn't hate it if they brought him in but I don't think he is the guy some of those on this forum are clamoring for.

I would love to see Green in Green and Gold.

Not ever going to happen. San Diego can't be that stupid, and even if they were, I can't imagine Ted Thompson paying Green's price.

But it would be cool.

How much will Jared Cook likely sign for? As others have pointed out him being released means we lose no comp picks signing him, might be some real potential for a deal here.

Jared Cook has been a huge underachiever so far in his career. That might lead to a cheap deal. However, he has never played with a competent QB.

Cook possesses the athleticism of an elite tight end, but it hasn't turned into production.

If we sign him, I asume it'd be on a one year prove-it deal. Minimizes risk and forces him to play up to his potential if he does want to earn big money.

Then again, I figure everyone thought that'd happen in 2006 with Woodson, as well.

Cook makes me think of like a Brad Jones as a TE. He's got it all physically but any bonehead think that can go wrong will go wrong. Excuse me for not wetting my my pants with excitement if we sign this guy.

The interesting thing about Cook is that he played for Fisher in his first 2 years at Tenn. 2 years later Fisher’s input was no doubt instrumental in Cook getting the big deal in STL. Fisher is a good judge of talent, Cook has got something!

In his 1st game after signing big contract [v. AZ] Cook was 7-141-2. A spot was cleared for his HOF bust. He only has Bradford for 7 games, the other 2.5 years in St.L his QBs sucked. Often he’d get mad at QB for not throwing to him or missing him [even though he drops more than his share]. With AR at QB, this emotion should be held in check.

He’s an average route runner and he can be an average blocker. It is just that he acts like he loses total concentration at times. He has anger problems and might have some bi-polar issues. The GB medical staff and lockerroom should help and guys like R.Rodgers, Jordy and Cobb can set an example for him to learn the playbook and go about his work like a businessman.

Of course, the main motivation has got to come from 32 GMs saying he sucks; and he takes the 1 yr, low base, incentive laden, prove-it deal from Ted.

Cook doesn’t play Special teams [24 snaps in last 4 years]

As Steve says this guy does a lot of bone-headed stuff, to go along w/ Musccy’s highlights, he did both in the game we had against him in 2015:

6 fumbles

4,6,5,4 drops the last 4 years

2014 5 penalties 52 yards
2015 4 penalties 25 yards

Though he does get his share of defensive PI calls 7/155

Against us in 2015:
1st Q 14:12, 3rd and 8: Lined up in slot, covered by Hyde made a nice move got bout half yard of separation. A perfect throw is made but ball goes through his hands, hits his chest and Hyde makes sure he doesn’t catch it.

1st Q 3:25. Hyde made an INT on a pass intended for Britt; Cook made a really nice tackle on Hyde, it shows he’s got some heart.

1st Q 1:02. 3rd and 9. Cook is running a shallow slant across the middle, Foles threw a great leading pass, but Cook stopped for no reason. Rollins makes Pic 6!

2nd Q, 8:03. The Uffdas will like this one. He blows through the middle of D and beats Dix deep by 2 yards. The ball is thrown perfectly, but Cook slows as if too jump for ball, as Dix catches up he grabs jersey so Cook cant jump, actually it was pretty subtle move by Dix, but the ref saw it or was sold by Cook’s flop, for a 32 yard PI call.

4thQ 5:27, 3rd 7: Covered by Hyde runs a great 2 line out route, pressuring Hyde deep he made a cut giving him 2 yards of separation. Foles threw the ball way high and Cook leaped way up and came back for the ball. This was a nice catch for 1st down, especially given he knew Hyde was about to cut him in half.

4thQ 4:40. Cook stays in to “block” and does an ol’ea on Elliot who just runs right by him. Amazingly CM3 blitzed untouched up the middle and beats Elliot to Foles.
