If Sean Payton gets fired in NO, I wouldn't mind seeing the entire coaching staff replaced and let Payton pick his coaches not named Greg Williams. McCarthy has squandered too many years.

I'm not saying he's chopped liver, but why is he a better candidate than MM?

I would like McCarthy to call 2-3 deep passes (as in 30 yards or more) per game and let the wide receivers fight for the ball. And no, 3rd and 1 and passing it 50 yards does not count, lol.

Maybe Tom Clements can focus on the deep passing game?

Additionally, Payton really knows how to pick DC's too. Saints have been a 2 dimensional juggernaut ever since he got there. Defense wins championships, right? Well, the Saints have consistently been working to improve their defense. Working for 10 years now! They were doing so well this fall, that Payton generously let his DC go look for another job. That's quite a coach!

Sarcasm off.

It's hard to say really. I don't necessarily know what Clements current contract situation with Green Bay is, but I could very well see him potentially looking outside the organization for a different opportunity as an OC or a college job after the season if he's serious about becoming a head coach himself. As many nice things as Mike McCarthy has said about him, this demotion mid-season is about as bad as it can get for a Coordinator outside of getting fired. 12 games of inconsistent performance was clearly enough for Mike McCarthy to take back the play calling duties.

Could I see him sticking around? Sure, it's a pretty cushy gig and Mike McCarthy is really in no immediate danger of losing his job. That being said, I could very well see a scenario where he isn't in Green Bay next year if he has an out in his contract and wants an opportunity to be a HC. Be it in a college or a side-step where he'd get more responsibility in running an offense with a different team.

Maybe he can be the guy who sneaks in and puts more air into the footballs after the refs check them. I had to be really careful about how I worded that.

Mucky Tundra (30-Jan) : Now that's a thought, maybe they're looking at the college ranks? Maybe not head coaches but DC/assistant DCs with league experience?
beast (30-Jan) : College Coaches wouldn't want that publicly, as it would hurt recruiting and they might not get the job.
beast (30-Jan) : I thought they were supposed to publicly announce them, at least the NFL ones. Hafley was from college, so I believe different rules.
Mucky Tundra (30-Jan) : Who knows who they're interviewing? I mean, nobody knew about Hafley and then out of nowhere he was hired
beast (30-Jan) : I wonder what's taking so long with hiring a DL coach, 2 of the 3 known to interview have already been hired elsewhere.

Zero2Cool (24-Jan) : Raiders hired someone from the elderly home.
dfosterf (24-Jan) : I'm going with a combination of the two.

Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Fake news. Cowboys say no
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Mystery candidate in the Cowboys head coaching search believed to be Packers ST Coordinator Rich Bisaccia.

beast (23-Jan) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
