I have perused Packershome for several years and joined earlier this year but have not posted much. Last night's game has inspired me to post today.

First of all, Bart Starr has been a hero mine since I was a little kid. I came of age after the glory of the Lombardi years and was around during Bart's unsuccessful tenure as a head coach. It was then that he visited my grade school and gave a talk that I recall to this day. (Former Packer tight end also visited my school and I became a big fan of his as a result, which is why I use his name).

Seeing Bart in his twilight last night was really moving for those of us who remember him in his prime or, like me, just past his prime. It was also nice to see Brett Favre get his due. While he was not nearly as classy as Bart and went off to play for the hated Vikings, he really helped return the franchise to prominence in the 1990s.

I had no doubt I would be a bit melancholy today over seeing Bart & Brett back at Lambeau.

What I was not expecting to be feeling was sadness over the current version of the Packers. I am a huge Aaron Rodgers fan. But he is just not getting it done right now and sadly is not demonstrating much leadership. He needs to do better and I at least have hope that he will.

With regard to Coach McCarthy, I confess I have lost faith in his ability to get the Packers back to a Super Bowl. I do not see innovation on offense, which is supposed to be his forte. For the last few years, I have worried about a lack of accountability and too much loyalty to "his guys." For example, it took blowing a trip to the Super Bowl for him to finally fire Special Teams Coach Shawn Slocum. Now, we have the experiment with Tom Clements apparently destroying the 2015 season. Don't really see it getting better or another trip to the Super Bowl coming any time soon. And that is also really sad.

Maybe it is just the crummy weather, seeing a hero (Bart) near the end, and a loss to the Bears, but I am just really sad about the Packers right now.

Would love to hear from other (more balanced??) fans who have a more positive outlook today, because I am admittedly down.

Agree on all points, it is pretty well established. That mm is "loyal to a fault". With players and coaches alike.

The defense has played as well as expected I think, maybe even better with how the offense has left them in the wind.

But the most damning thing is just seeing how flat we are on offense, aside from some Rodgers frustration on the sidelines, it looks like most of our offense doesn't give 2 turds about the game they are being paid to play.

And if the thanksgiving game with Favre and Starr in prime time against our rivals is not enough to get some emotion out of them... I don't know what is.

Also, welcome to the forums!!

I admit....when Bart Starr came out, I started crying.
I am old enough that I got to see him play, and Favre and Rodgers.
And I got to meet Starr one on one in the parking lot when I worked security in 1984 for the Lombardi golf tourny. He stopped me and thanked me. I will never forget that.
Now...as was said, if these circumstances of last night are not enough to get you to play your best, then you are not good enough to wear the green and gold.
The players should be ashamed of their game.
I don't see this team going anywhere if they luck out and make the playoffs.
6 and 0 to the basement in no time flat.
Well...they got off to the "fast start" they have been wanting.
Then flushed the season down the ol'
Toilet.

Spot on. I couldn't believe that Bart and Brett showed up to see that shitfest. The difference between Bart and our offense - he actually looked like he wanted to be at the game.
