Packers' special teams among the lowlights in preseason loss to Eagles

Ron Zook: The special teams coordinator's units were atrocious from the start. The kickoff team gave up a 67-yard return on the game's opening play. The Packers were flagged for eight special teams penalties. Zook is in his first season after coach Mike McCarthy promoted him from special teams assistant when he fired Shawn Slocum in the offseason.

Tim Masthay: The Packers were looking for their punter to shake his inconsistent ways but it didn't happen. On his first punt of the second half, Masthay managed only 3.15 seconds of hang time on a 40-yard punt. However, his two punts in the first half had respectable hang times of 4.18 and 4.36 seconds.

Many players played in the Packers 3rd Preseason game on Special Teams. Many of those players will not make the final 53 man roster. Let's not panic over a preseason game. When the Season Opener with the Bears arrives, the Special Teams will be set.

Not going to panic over it, but this team has a lot to prove on special teams. It's been a liability for some time and until they prove they're at least not bottom-10, that's how they'll be perceived.

Also, first time I've been able to say "Mason Crossbars" in some time. Glad I got to during the preseason when it doesn't matter.
