How much faith do you have that he has the knowledge, skill and ability to teach and bring our ILB group to where we want and expect. He has been in his position since 2006, so it has been his job to develop our ILB group.

Was it his coaching that turned AJ into what he became (whether you see that as good or bad). Is he the reason we have not has much success developing ILB talent. Should Mike and Dom be looking for additional ILB specific coaching especially now that there really is no veteran on the team to help as a player coach like Woodson and Harris had done with the CB position.

It's hard to get a handle on that since, other than Matthews and Hawk, he hasn't been given much to work with.

He used to get mentioned fairly regularly for DC jobs around the league. Did a lot of interviews back in the day, never seemed to get the opportunity.

Loved him as a Raider. He played when I was a season ticket holder in L.A.

Good coach? I do not know.

However, he was interviewed for coaching opportunities with The Raiders and they chose not to hire him? As a former Raider, him not being hired says something about what the Raiders opine after his interview.

I don't know any inside information or anything, but to me all the signs point to him being a pretty good coach. Being named the Assistant Head Coach speaks volumes about leadership abilities, and being a successful NFL linebacker for over a decade suggests he knows the position pretty well.

I've been generally impressed with our linebackers (when healthy) ever since Dom joined us (which I realize doesn't cover all of Moss's tenure). As far as development goes, I think Desmond Bishop developed nicely with us, and I think Barrington is on his way. I'm gonna guess that there won't be another linebacker coach brought in for the sake of specialization, but I suppose I also wouldn't be all that surprised if there was.

Tough to get a finger on. Guys like Bishop and Barrington seem to have developed pretty well while guys like Hawk and Jones did ok then regressed (Hawk may have just gotten worn out but he looked like a lot better player before he became an ILB). No one else has ever developed into anything and none of these guys ever became very good in coverage. His resume would probably look a heck of a lot better overall if Bishop never got hurt. I think we've got some good talent there right now with Barrington,Ryan,Bradford and Thomas but it really will take a good coach to get it out of them. I think this is a group that will tell us what kind of a coach he is.

He seems to be very highly thought of. He has not been given a blue chipper at ILB but there have been quite a few bodies come through. Should one or more of them been an impact player, who knows? I'm not sold on him, but I can't say I would replace him either. Hopefully, Mike McCarthy and Ted Thompson know what they're doing in this regard. I do wish Greene was still coach, I liked his fire and guys did seem to improve. With not taking an ILB high this year I hope the staff knows something we don't.
