Hi green and gold packershome.com guys,
As every year I took over TT's responsibilities as the Packers GM in the Mock Draft on our german NFL message board. 32 guys trying to draft as good as they can for their respective teams š Below you can see the complete Draft until Round 4 which is usually the cut-off point for me and when I'm replaced with a guy who knows more about those Draftees. :D
I'd appreciate any thoughts and comments on my "performance" and I'd like to hear who you would have picked instead as you see who was available at the respective time. So not only "God damn it, why didn't you select a XYZ in round X?" I 'd like to hear names ;)
Here's the Draft with my picks and an explanation in bold. Thoughts? Thanks, guys.

#28 Broncos - Jordan Phillips, DT, Oklahoma
#29 Colts - Eddie Goldman, DT/NT, FSU
#30 Packers - Eric Kendricks, LB, UCLA
From Day 1 of the Mock Draft I was hoping that Kendricks would fall that far. Of course I was watching the highly rated players to fall, but Kendricks was my initial realistic target. So the board fell as I wanted and I got the ILB from UCLA. 3 down linebacker with great sideline to sideline ability. Very good in coverage, but also a sure tackler. I think that's a great guy to have next to Sam Barrington who brings a very different skill set to the table#31 Saints - Jaelen Strong, WR, Arizona State
#32 Jaguars (from Patriots) - Cameron Erving, C, FSU

#50 Bills - Laken Tomlinson, OG, Duke
#51 Titans (from Texans) - Eli Harold, LB Virginia

#58 Ravens - Sammie Coates, WR, Auburn
#59 Broncos - Cedric Ogbuehi, OT, Texas A&M
#60 Cowboys - Tevin Coleman, RB, Indiana
#61 Colts - Eric Rowe, CB/S, Utah
#62 Packers - Ronald Darby, CB, FSU
That was the first "not so nice" moment of my Draft. My target was Eric Rowe who went to the Colts one pick before I was on the clock. But I can easily live with Darby, who is with 5'11 on the border for a Packers corner, but has all the abilities to fit the scheme. Great speed, good in man coverage, tackling ability is OK. I wanted to have a CB who can start as a boundary corner opposite of Shields right away to keep Hayward/Hyde in the slot where they fit best. Noone of the remaining CB had that, but Darby could be in a position to take that spot after Hayward will fill in for half a season.#63 Lions (from Seahawks) - Jay Ajayi, RB, Boise State
#64 Patriots - Michael Bennett, DT, Ohio State
Round 3:#65 Buccaneers - Ty Sambrailo, OT, Colorado State
#66 Texans (from Titans) - Ameer Abdullah, RB, Nebraska

#70 Jets - Donovan Smith, OT, Penn St
#71 Patriots (from Bears) - Ali Marpet, OG, Hobart
#72 Rams - Brett Hundley, QB, UCLA
#73 Falcons - Anthony Harris, S, Virginia
#74 Giants - Damarius Randall, S, Arizona State
#75 Saints - Alex Carter, CB, Stanford
#76 Chargers (from Vikings) - Duke Johnson, RB, Miami
#77 Browns - Xavier Cooper, DT, Washington State
#78 Texans (from Giants) - Steven Nelson, CB, Oregon State
#79 Bills (from 49ers) - Henry Anderson, DE, Stanford
#80 Chiefs - Hroniss Grasu, C, Oregon
#81 49ers (from Bills) - Marcus Hardison, DT, Arizona State
#82 Giants (from Saints via Texans) - Grady Jarrett, DT, Clemson
#83 Vikings (from Chargers) - D'Joun Smith, CB, Florida Atlantic
#84 Eagles - Chris Conley, WR, Georgia
#85 Bengals - Cody Prewitt, S, Ole Miss
#86 Cardinals - David Cobb, RB, Minnesota
#87 Steelers - Jaquiski Tartt, S, Samford
#88 Lions - Josh Shaw, CB, USC
#89 Panthers - Derron Smith, S, Fresno State
#90 Ravens - Danielle Hunter, DE, LSU
#91 Cowboys - Trey Flowers, DE, Arkansas
#92 Broncos - Tyler Lockett, WR, Kansas State
#93 Colts - T.J. Yeldon, RB, Alabama
#94 Packers - Devin Funchess, WR, Michigan
Funchess played 3 years as a TE at Ann Arbor before switching to WR in his senior year. And to be honest, at neither of those pisitions he's superb. For a WR he might lack speed and has too many dropsies and for a TE his blocking is almost non-existent. I picked him because of his skill sets and because he can create match-up problems. Tall guy, long arms, can jump. Jermichael Finley went down and so did the production of the Packers TEs. Richard Rodgers has reliable hands, but will never be the Red Zone Target the Packers would like to have. I hope Funchess can be that guy as he's comparable to JMike. It was a boom-or-bust pick in round 3, but for me it was worth it#95 Seahawks - Tony Lippett, CB, Michigan State
#96 Texans (from Bears over Patriots) - Mario Edwards, DE, FSU
comp#97 Patriots - Tre McBride, WR, William & Mary
comp#98 Chiefs - Doran Grant, CB, Ohio State
comp#99 Bengals - Jeff Heuerman, TE, Ohio State
Round 4:#100 Bears (from Titans via Texans) - Tyeler Davison, DT, Fresno State
#101 Bears - (from Buccaneers via Patriots) - Markus Golden, OLB, Mizzou
#102 Browns (from Raiders) - Ifo Ekpre-Olomu, CB, Oregon
#103 Patriots (from Jaguars) - Lorenzo Mauldin, DE, Louisville
#104 Jets - ZaDarius Smith, DE, Kentucky
#105 Redskins - Adrian Amos, S, Penn State
#106 Bears - Tyrus Thompson, OT, Oklahoma
#107 Falcons - Mike Davis, RB, South Carolina
#108 Giants - Justin Hardy, WR, ECU
#109 Buccaneers (from Rams) - Ben Heeney, LB, Kansas
#110 Chargers (from Vikings) - John Miller, OG, Louisville

#119 Texans (from Rams) - Bryce Petty, QB, Baylor
#120 Bengals - Kenny Bell, WR, Nebraska
#121 Steelers - Mark Glowinski, OG, West Virginia
#122 Ravens - MyCole Pruitt, TE, Southern Illinois
#123 Cardinals - Rob Crisp, OT, N.C. State
#124 Panthers - Jeremy Langford, RB, Michigan State
#125 Ravens - Charles Gaines, CB, Louisville
#126 49ers - B.J. Finney, C, Kansas State
#127 Cowboys - Garrett Grayson, QB, Colorado State
#128 Chargers (from Colts) - DeAndre Smelter, WR, Georgia Tech
#129 Packers - Javorius Allen, RB, USC
My initial target was Jeremy Langford out of MSU and from the middle of the 4th round the Panthers were the only team I was afraid of picking him. All other teams already had picked a RB or were IMO searching for a different kind of back. So bad things happened and JL was gone. But I'm pretty OK with Buck Allen, who brings basically the same to the table that Langford does. Good hands out of the backfield, reliable in pass protection, ZBS RB, not elite speed to be the home runner, but good enough to beat the D outside if needed. Should be a solid complement to Eddie Lacy and when people compare him to Matt Forte, then I guess they have a high opinion on him as well. ;)
