“I’m not approaching it that it ‘could’ be. I’m approaching like it is. When you take out all the pleasing everybody’s emotions, I’m the veteran inside linebacker. It’s my defense. What’s mine right now is mine to lose. So I approach it with a serious mentality.”

Pro day numbers are always better than combine numbers. If you want something to really ponder...why was he "faster" on his pro day at 62 degrees and very windy vs. climate controlled indoor conditions? Did he run with the wind at his back? As for the other numbers, I don't know for certain, but I know in Indy the stuff is all legit. If a guy jumps 32.5 inches that is what he jumped...at a pro day those things may not be as regulated as they are in Indy. A guy may only jump 32.5" in Indy and jump the same at his pro day but his numbers look bigger at his pro day because 32.5" ain't really measured accurately at the pro day. Of course, the home cooking would do everything in it's power to give one of it's own a bit of a boost after a dreadful 40 time in Indy and that's not even getting into the electronic timed vs. hand timed issue.

There is no dispute that 4.91 is off the charts terrible for a LB and that is what Sam ran at the combine.

It's not such a huge issue when you play on slow grass field in the cold like Sam does.

Hand timed 40 yard dashes will not account for someone jumping 6 inches higher or a foot longer. All the evidence points to him being significantly more athletic than the #s from the combine suggest. Not to mention the fact that he certainly doesn't look to have poor athleticism playing on the actual football field.

I don't see any convincing reason to believe the combine #s are representative of his actual athleticism. I mean does he look to you like a lineman when he's playing in the actual game? I think not. I see way more evidence that something was up with him at the combine.

You were trying to find reasons why his #'s were so different. You concluded it must've been Barrington not being himself. I'm not as sure of that as you are and wonder if it wasn't the fact that things aren't the same as they are in Indy. How exactly does a guy improve on numbers in 62 degrees and lots of wind vs. a nice comfortable 75 and indoors? Sam lives in FLORIDA. 62 is a cold day for him. I find it curious his muscles would be looser at 62 degrees and wind than they would vs. being in climate controlled Indy. Makes no sense. It is more plausible that things were just a little different at USF than Indy not that Sam was injured. If Sam was injured he and his agent are two of the dumbest people around. You don't go out and put up numbers while injured that can ruin your ability to be drafted or get picked up later as a UDFA when you know you have a pro day coming.

beast (30-Jan) : I thought they were supposed to publicly announce them, at least the NFL ones. Hafley was from college, so I believe different rules.
Mucky Tundra (30-Jan) : Who knows who they're interviewing? I mean, nobody knew about Hafley and then out of nowhere he was hired
