This isn't exactly Bert v Aaron.

This is churning on the bottom of the roster. These guys at the bottom aren't all THAT good. Sometimes it comes down to who has more potential next year. Sometimes it comes down to who fits what they want them to do better. Sometimes there's off-field bullshit about which we know nothing.

Get over it, man.

Eventually, this "bottom feeder" at the bottom of the roster that was churning became a stud for our DL. I don't think he ever got his true due in Green Bay. We were clearly not as good without Cullen and haven't been since his departure.

Sam Shields and Tramon Williams weren't top of the mind guys when they got here. Had either one of them been cut like Rolle you'd have said the exact same thing about them as you're saying now about what happened with Rolle. Joe Whitt likened Jumal Rolle to Sam Shields yet he was cut in favor in Goodson. I have NEVER heard Goodson likened to Sam Shields or anyone of any renown.

Am I saying Rolle is a Tramon or Sammy? No. Who knows, though? I was a huge Shields guy from the get go but can honestly say I don't even remember Williams when he first came to us.

Kurt Warner was in our camp ... he was nothing but a camp body...guy goes on to have a HOF career and won as many rings as Brett or Aaron.

A mistake is a mistake whether it's at the bottom or top of your roster. Don't minimize what potentially happened here... it's TBD as for now but it looks more in Rolle's favor right now.

So you prefer a GM to gamble with high priced free agency, but he shouldn't gamble at all when it comes to the 6th cornerback slot on the roster. Do I have that right?

Goodson is a raw talent that needs seasoning

In his mind he thinks he will be ready this year.

Again why is it so bad for a player to set high goals?

If He doesn't achieve the goals he has set for himself this year, then that will only make him more determined next year.

On the other hand if he surprises everyone by winning the starting spot, that's a WIN win for a The Packers!

What looked in Tramon Williams favor when he got here? Didn't play in 2006... no stats at all. Had 1 pick 4 pass defended and 16 tackles. Wow, what a house afire in his first couple of years with the Packers.

Rolle had 3 picks last year. I know Barfarn isn't a fan of that. I merely post for comparison sake. Did any of you think Tramon Williams was going to be what he was in Year 1 or Year 2? A multimillion dollar long term starter for us?

If Goodson sucks, and Rolle blossoms of course it's a major miss. I said it was TBD. Early returns are Rolle is better. Doesn't mean it will end that day.

Like I said, "as of now" losing Rolle is no more of a miss than losing Josh Gordy or Brendian Ross. It's a miss if Rolle ends up being a good player. If Goodson turns into Revis but Rolle ends up being good too it's still a miss on a good player, Goodson has nothing to do with it. You can bring up Tramon Williams all you want but for every one of him there are 10 that hang out a year or two and end up doing nothing of note and Rolle is more likely at this point one of the 10. I even liked Rolle as an all around kind of CB but I don't think he's got the ceiling that Goodson does as a man cover corner. I see Rolle's absolute ceiling as a Jarrett Bush or Micah Hyde type which isn't a bad player but if you've already got a couple of those it makes sense to favor a different type to develop on the back end of your roster.

Bush is unlikely to be back. I truly hope this is it for him. For such a "wonderful" ST player we sure aren't very good on ST's. Do we keep him around so we aren't even worse because he isn't making us a good unit.

I'm surprised you left out the multiple Packers forum popular Erwin Swiney. Josh Gordy wasn't a bad player. Had tons of speed and athleticism if memory serves out of Rice. Brandian was another intriguing guy.

Goodson should've been cut, too. If he's a UDFA I'll bet he would've been.

He wouldn't have seen the field any more than Goodson did if he stayed in GB so I don't really think that means much. I didn't say Gordy and Ross were bad but they aren't the kind of players you lose sleep over losing as I suspect Rolle will end up being.

Zero2Cool (13h) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (17h) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (17h) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (18h) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (18h) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (18h) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (18h) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (18h) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (18h) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (18h) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (18h) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (18h) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (19h) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (19h) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (19h) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (19h) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (21h) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (21h) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (21h) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.
dfosterf (15-Apr) : I may have to move
dfosterf (15-Apr) : My wife just told the ancient Japanese sushi dude not enough rice under his fish
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I think a dozen is what I need
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Van Ness played most of season with broken thumb
wpr (9-Apr) : yay
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Mark Murphy says Steelers likely to protect Packers game. Meaning, no Ireland
Zero2Cool (8-Apr) : Struggling to figure out what text editor options are needed and which are 'nice to have'
Mucky Tundra (8-Apr) : *CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP*
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : WR who said he'd break Xavier Worthy 40 time...and ran slower than you
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Who?
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Texas’ WR Isaiah Bond is scheduled to visit the Bills, Browns, Chiefs, Falcons, Packers and Titans starting next week.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Spotting ball isn't changing, only measuring distance is, Which wasn't the issue.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : The spotting of the ball IS the issue. Not the chain gang.
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Will there be a tracker on the ball or something?
