Masthay got rusty because he sat on the bench more than any other punter in the game... isn't that a good problem in some ways? If they brought in another punter wouldn't they most likely get rusty sitting on the bench that much?

I rather have down punter numbers than down Packers offensive numbers any time

So, just give up on Masthay because he had one bad year?

Crosby had a good season. Masthay's was bad, but the guy never saw the field because we were so productive on offense.

My thinking is that I want some legit competition, but I feel like finding a strong legged kid from college might be better than waiting to see who goes undrafted and then hoping they're good enough. The better kickers usually find their way into the draft and I would rather not let say the best available get picked by Detroit, for example, when we could get him with a compensatory 4 or something.

If (as Ted Thompson and staff would know better than us, of course) there are expected to be some good legs available as UFA, then fine, but I am guessing there won't be and I would rather use a low pick and really shore up those wo spots.

The basc poor rating on Crosby has more to do with short kicks/lack of touchbacks than FG shots. I think they put weight on how much it affects field position when you allow guys to run it out instead of consistently let them take it at the 20, so it's not that he is horrible, but like PFF I think we can do better.

I'm not concerned about the Packer's kicking game .

The main focus should be on ILB's and CB's ! There are serious holes in the Defence that must be addressed . Even the best Offense can't compete without a strong Defence. I am very worried about ILB's , CB's , and NT . The Defence is the most important issue now and going forward. Ted Thompson had better have a plan to deal with it or the 2015 season will be a grim one !
