Do not expect Randall Cobb to sign with the Packers before 3pm this Saturday.

After 3pm Saturday Cobb's agent will be able to freely negotiate a contract with another team, even though Cobb cannot sign until March 10th with another team.

If no other team offers a significant increase of the Packers offer, Cobb will resign with the Packers prior to March 10th.

If Cobb is not resigned by the 10th, he will not be returning to the Packers.

Since Ted Thompson is not a big player in the initial FA frenzy anyway it won't affect our signing players and it could work to our advantage by giving our guys, like Cobb and Bulaga, a chance to see just how good they do have it here before they do something they might regret.

Remember when Fat Albert signed his 100 million dollar deal at 1 minute past midnight. At least that is what the rumor was. If true you can't tell me they hadn't been talking prior to the midnight deadline and it wasn't legal at the time.

Offer him the same deal as Jordy if he don't sign then let him walk. Then go after Andre Johnson for a 2 year deal and also Julius Thomas at TE. I think we could get both those players for a combined $10 million a year. Johnson would be a good fit for the young guys to learn from and also be a very good player for the 2 years he is here. It was just a thought where we could sure up 2 spots instead of 1 for the money. Then sign the whale and Tramon and also get an ILB from free agency and we would be just fine.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

I could have been more clear on the theirs vs ours part.

There are a few teams with a ton of cap space that will probably make a move on him. I'd love to keep him, but if his rate goes beyond the number the organization feels is right for him, at his position, to keep the cap healthy, then we'll have to let him go.

I feel the negotiations have already been finalized. I feel there is a contract already agreed upon. I feel the length and dollar value of the contract Saxton, his agent, negotiated is too high of an investment for Ted. Or Jacksonville who will want Cobb way more than the Packers.

This is not a worry for Packer Fans.. Ted can find, pick, and cultivate another W.R. to replace Cobb. Has there ever been a G.M. in the history of the NFL that was better in picking wide outs? The answer is no. You know that, even if you hate the man.

Mark my words typed here, 12: 39 AM P.S.T.

Next season...

Cobb will growl as he storms the country,
A villain big and bold.
And the trees all shake and quiver and quake,
As he robs them of their gold.

As I said though, if he is not signed prior to then that means another team has upped the Packers offer significantly or has given his agent a strong indication they will do so. The Packers will not get into a bidding war, therefore, Cobb will be gone.

The Packers are very smart with their salary cap and they do not get into bidding wars over players. They have a value set for a player and a value they are willing to reach. They offer X knowing they will go as high as Y, but will not go to Z. If that makes sense, lol.

If I am Jimmy Sexton, this is my plan for Randall Cobb. With Cobb just 24 years old he should take a deal around three or four years for something like $25-$32 million. He'll then hit free agency in his prime, with a ring and having had several more years of elite quarterback play which collectively speaking will undoubtedly make him a rich man.
