When I was a kid, the Packers were consistently bad. As a young man, injuries wrecked the Starr era but Forrest Gregg let the team slide into terrible again. Finally the powers that were decided to bring in a professional to set things right and, with a few odd years aside, we've been "in the argument" ever since.
He brought us Holmgren and Favre, and through his tutelage Thompson and Rodgers, and the Packers built a coaching/gm tree all over the league. Ron Wolf was more deserving of the honor than anyone else on that list this year and if I am able I am gonna try to make it to Canton this summer to help celebrate.
Great players leave lasting memories and certainly deserve the accolades, but a guy like Ron Wolf made not only the memories but the enduring legacy of the best franchise in pro sports. Hats off!
