Now the talk is Kraft told Goodell he wouldn't fight the team punishments if they let up on Brady's suspension. If you believe that look for it to be reduced to 2 or even 1. I really don' think they can lose all 4 but who knows. By this time next season something else will have made us forget all about it and the NFL will still be counting its money.

We shouldn't forget that Bill will use this as motivation to freaking crush everyone in their path, similar to 2007 when they admitted they broke the rules by video recording signals.

Kraft and the Patriots still claim the team did nothing illegal or wrong. Yet they suspended the two guys. Is suspending guys for doing nothing wrong part of the Patriot way? Seems like their words and actions directly contradict each other.

I have a feeling, that if we could watch the bank accounts of those two guys, we would find a huge increase in balance.

The NFL is wrong for levying any penalties to the Patriots. What a bunch of garbage.

Contrary to the report, the significant difference between the changes in pressure of the two teams’ balls was not because the pressure of the Patriots balls was too low, but because that of the Colts balls was too high.

How could this be? The report’s own findings suggest an explanation: At halftime, N.F.L. officials measured the pressure of “only a sample” of the Colts balls (four out of 12) before they ran out of time; the second half of the game was about to begin. This implies that the Colts balls sat in the warm room where they were to be measured — and thus increased in pressure — for almost the entirety of halftime before being measured.

Irrelevant. The Patriots balls were deflated to less than regulation pressure, and that was no accident.

As far as the "rules of evidence", they were followed in this case. This is not a criminal proceeding so there doesn't need to be proof beyond a reasonable doubt. There just needs to be a preponderance of the evidence...in other words, more likely than not.

In addition, the NFL is a private organization bound by the CBA and not by some otherwise accepted due process. If your boss believes you are stealing from the company, he can fire you without having to prove it, unless you have a contract that specifies the rules of termination.

More than anything, Brady got hammered because he refused to cooperate with the investigation, which players are required to do in the CBA. If the NFL allowed that to slide, it would result in a huge mess any time henceforth they need to investigate something.

Was the incident catastrophic like someone shaving points? No, but if the integrity of the game comes into doubt, the fan base will dry up in a hurry. Look what happened to boxing in a very short time. Worst of all is the lack of institutional control in New England. You'd think the owner would make damned sure he wasn't up for having the reputation of his franchise repeatedly hit by these kinds of scandals, but apparently Bob Kraft isn't the pillar of integrity he's portrayed to be.

I give the Pats credited and wish the Packers would try some of the things they do, people call it cheating i call it playing in the grey area of the rules and look at the success they have had. 12 of 13 years they were division champs and the streak is still going, that is called success. oh ya in that time they also have 4 super bowl wins and 6 appearances.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Personally, I couldn't care less if a quarterback drops a few pounds of pressure or adds because all 22 on the field have to play with that same ball. Where I have an issue is the NFL punishing a team and player with no substantial proof of wrongdoing. I mean, it doesn't take much common sense to realize how idiotic this is. You take two balls, leave them in the cold for two hours, then bring them both indoors. Check the first immediately and don't check the next one for 10-15 minutes, guess what, the one that was checked last will have a higher PSI. And that's just one item of this ignorantly held process.

The NFL has never checked PSI in footballs before. They should this entire season including exhibition, regular and post season and establish a baseline of PSI change. Even then it's impossible to intelligently claim the Patriots are guilty of "wrongdoing" because the damn balls were not tested within the same conditions or even same gauge.

I'm so glad I'm not a Patriots fan because then I would really be pissed, lol. 😎

Now, it can be argued the whole rule is silly...then change the rule. But that doesn't alter the fact the Brady and the Pats violated the rule that stands today.

And, as I mentioned, the 4 games is more about refusing to cooperate than it is about the violation itself.

As the old saying goes " If your not cheating you're not trying hard enough to win" The Pats are the best at this and people are just jealous of them for doing stuff thats in the grey area. If the Packers were doing this stuff and winning all the time you guys would be claiming its not fair and I don't want to hear any BS that says you wouldn't be 🤬

If you have to cheat to win, you are NO champion. You are a cheater.
Being proud of cheating and getting away with it shows poor character.

And the Pats aren't working in any grey areas. That'd imply that they're trying to work within the rules or, at least, not breaking any rules per say. What they've been constantly doing is blatantly ignoring the rules and getting an advantage that way.

Did I think that breaking those rules made an immense impact? No. The Pats would've destroyed that Colts team, anyway, and went on to the SB without any under- or overinflating. They were just good. That doesn't mean that the Patriots should've been let off easily.

Something we need to understand is the Patriots aren't the only team doing these things. They are just getting caught. You want your team to push the envelope. Every team does that and the ones that don't are the ones accepting top five picks year after year.

Edit, this just popped up on the Tweeter.

beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
