I don't know about gutless, but clueless on short yardage and goal line offense I would agree. Come out heavy with 7 olineman and try to ram it in once, but twice in a row was stupid. After Kuhn missed, spread the defense out and let Rodgers try a sneak from the 6 inch line.

McCarthy can draw up some good passing plays, but his ability to scheme a creative run game is crap.

We're so eager to find someone to blame. You're trying to gain 12 inches. This isn't rocket science. Put in some bulldozers and hope for the best. We were out bulldozed, that's it. You'd sure as shit hope your offensive line can pull it off, and they didn't. Such is life, move on. The Packers still could have won despite this.

But not going for the jugular or punching it in didn't directly lose the game. What lost the game were players making boneheaded decisions/plays.

I agree with what you guys are saying about Mike McCarthy as a HC, but to say this loss is on him is ridiculous.

And I'm sorry, but that IS on the coach.

I don't think I've ever said a word against Mike McCarthy, and I'm not gonna criticize him too much now. Just the same, I have had a lot of problems in a lot of games with his play calling - this one included. The bigger problem, however, and consequently, the bigger share of blame, is subpar personnel - in this case, an O Line that AGAIN was unable to generate even a small amount of push. I blame Ted Thompson for that, the same as I blame Ted for overall personnel that is less than it should be surrounding our world's greatest QB. John Schneider has done better; Hell, Jerry Fricken Jones has done a better job. Aaron Rodgers has almost singlehandedly made Ted's reputation as a good GM. I guess we could say the same, though, for Mike McCarthy.

So have Rodgers move up like he is calling out a change in protection, only to slip back under C and take a quick snap for a sneak. He only needed to get a foot.

I thought the O Line was great the last couple games...did Seattle even have a sack today? The run game has been very productive other than in goal line situations. When is the last time we play actioned on 1st and goal from inside the 3 like Dallas did to us last week?

I understand he is our best player, but he is not exempt from criticism. At the end of the day, blame goes to the coach, always!

If Kuhn's elbow touches 3 inches later, there isn't a PEEP about this. Just because it didn't work doesn't make it dumb. We have the benefit of hours to second guess a play. Mike has seconds.

You said it yourself, they were trying to gain a FOOT. No need for cute, just cram it down their throats. It didn't work. That's execution.

My point in stressing these three plays is because that no matter what coaching/player gaffes preceded them, any one of those 3 still could have ended the game. I'm not trying to single out those 3 as the reason for the loss, just that they're clear examples of what could have won the game (or optimized chances) if players executed.

beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.

wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.

beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
