I had the opportunity to watch the full All-22 coaches film of last Sunday's Green Bay Packers win over the New England Patriots. I always enjoy looking for those not-so-obvious things that happen during a game. Here are five: McCarthy's game plan: Much has been written and discussed about the quality of Mike McCarthy's game

Here are five:

McCarthy’s game plan: I’d rate McCarthy’s overall game plan as one of the top five in his career.

Clinton Dix says Ha Ha to Gronkowski: The 7-8 times Ha Ha Clinton-Dix ended up on Gronk one-on-one, he was all over the Terminator.

Mike Daniels best game?: It won’t show up in the stats (2 assists, half a sack), but Mike Daniels was big time on the big stage Sunday night.

Datone as inside rusher: Jones was in for 16 snaps on passing downs, which is no surprise, as pass rush is what Jones has been best at. What did surprise me, however, was seeing him rushing from the inside a few times, even directly over the center one play.

Matthews fail in pass coverage: The handful (of broken plays) that I did see were actually on Clay Matthews.

Clay is still learning the ILB position. I would expect a broken coverage from him on occasion. It is difficult for a player to know where he is supposed to be for one position yet alone 2.

In the game where he has bitten on the read option, a few players later, he stayed outside and held the edge and guess what they did. They ran the ball inside of him for a big gain. I'd personally rather have him react and play instinctively, rather than cautious. Hawk is a cautious player and nobody likes him.

As far as the run inside, he isn't the only guy on the field. If it is his duty to stay outside and keep edge containment and the RB gets a big gain up the middle that is not his fault. Most likely it is AJ's fault. 😆

My point is when he has a specific assignment and abandons it then he leaves the whole team vulnerable. Some times caution is the key on a play. Not Clay specifically but when a OLB over pursues and runs across the field to try and make the tackle the other team sees that and they can run a reverse for a lot of yards back to where the LB should be. Clay does not have to make every tackle. He has to let his teammates do their job.

Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
