How did you feel about Sam starting AND how he performed?

Sam Barrington, who had been hampered by a hamstring the last few weeks and had not played a down from scrimmage since two snaps against the Chicago Bears Sept. 28, started for inside linebacker Jamari Lattimore.

Potential future replacement for Hawk someday?

I was a little surprised, but it sounds like the coaching staff wanted to see what they have in Sam.

I've been saying all along Barrington was drafted to replace A.J. Hawk, that may now change if they are trying him at the other ILB position.

I thought he did a fine job when in the lineup, of course there wasn't a whole lot to complain about yesterday on defense or offense.

From my perspective, the answer to the Packers average middle linebacker woes is still not on the roster. I just see more mediocrity. The team can get by with that, but it will remain a problem until they find some truly talented and good-to-great players. The Hawks, Lattimores, Barringtons, Bradfords of the world are and will be average at best, imo.

Reading on in the article, I was interested to see:

Rodgers at a glance: Quarterback Aaron Rodgers hit some milestones with his performance Sunday.

Rodgers posted his sixth consecutive game without an interception, tying Bart Starr's franchise record set in 1964.

Rodgers joined the Patriots' Tom Brady as the only players in NFL history to post four straight three-touchdown games without an interception.

Rodgers became the first player in NFL history to throw for at least 18 touchdowns with one or fewer interceptions in the first seven games of a season.

I didn't notice Barrington on any bad plays (then again the Packers defense as a whole did very well against the Panthers). I remember one running play which Barrington and Richardson finished it up... the play was made un front but they couldn't finish it, so there was still a chance for the RB to make something out of nothing... but Barrington and Richardson finished the play not giving the RB a chance (which is very very good).

Though I think I read in one of the articles that, Barrington got the start but Hawk and Lattimore got more snaps.

Barrington is a guy I think most fans like the coaching staff want to see take the next step. I wonder about Brad Jones though. Is he playing his last season for the Packers?
