We got mentioned on Yahoo! ;-)

The Green Bay Packers had a fairly quiet off season so far. They did lose a wide receiver but I think wide receiver James Jones is on the downside of his career so I think letting him go to the Oakland Raiders was a good move. The Raiders are rostering most of the league's "has beens," so Jones will be quite comfortable there. The Green Bay Packers finished at the top of the NFC North with a 8-7-1 record. They had issues of course with the injuries of their #1 receiver, Randall Cobb, TE Jermichael Finley, and QB Aaron Rodgers. Making it to the playoffs required the implosion of the Detroit Lions which they were happy to do dropping their last four games in 2013.

Can The Packers make it back to the playoffs in 2014?

The Packers are going to have to do better this year to make it to the playoffs since The Bears and The Lions have improved via free agency and the draft. Green Bay had a nice draft filling their need positions as well as adding depth. My 2014 Green Bay Packers NFL Draft Report Card and Player Analysis had WR Brandin Cooks being drafted by the Packers but New Orleans jumped in front by trading up with the Arizona Cardinals and stopped that from happening. Coach McCarthy switched gears and took Free Safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix which gives them an immediate upgrade in their secondary and a superstar Pro Bowler for the next five years. The Green Bay Packers only replaced half of the players they lost in free agency but re-signed most of their core players to contracts. We will see if a pedestrian off season will hurt or help them lead the NFC North again.

Who is the "superstar prow bowler for the next five years" they added in the secondary?

The issue I have with this is that the author assumes that their board and the Packers were one of the same for the Draft. I don't think it was a sure bet we take Cooks with the 1st pick even though the Saints seem to have thought so. HHCD I could hardly call switching gears since every pundit and their grandmothers knew that the Pack needed to address the failure at the Safety position. To me even if Cooks was the likely plan and was available Clinton-Dix may have been the pick as the S need was just too great to overlook and the WR draft depth made that position one we could address later (which we did multiple times).

Talk about putting pressure on a rookie.

I wonder if in 5 years if Clinton -Dix has only made 2 pro bowls if this guy will call him a bust?

Randall Cobb The packers #1 receiver?

Looks like he is headed that way, but I think Jordy is #1 at the moment.

All in all a pretty weak article, just my opinion.
