That's why guys like Megatron and Julio Jones are special WR's...they run 4.5's? Yes, Jerry Rice wasn't a burner. Fast as heck on the field though. Adams ain't like Rice on the field. Looks like he runs in moon boots to me. This poo pooing of speed is odd. Also, it is odd to speak of Adams 14 reps like it could easily be 22. James Jones was at 22 when he was in Adams position and Latimer at 23. By the logic here, Latimer's ceiling is way higher because he can improve from 23 reps while Adams is starting at 14. This is one of my major issues with Green Bay philosophy which I generally agree with. Our org believes it competes by drafting and developing players. IE: Datone Jones ready to make a jump in Year 2, is the philosophy. Here's where I hate what we rely on. Does the fact we have this philosophy stop the other 31 teams guys from having the same type of improvement? So, when the Vikings, Bears and Lions draft guys they don't get any better just because they don't play for the Packers? It's not like the rest of the league is static and we're moving because we like that cute little draft and develop refrain.
Seattle and SF go out and get what they need. We stand pat, usually, but this year we went out and grabbed a guy at the very end. Hopefully, that turns out well. It as nice to see us finally take the bat off the shoulder and go for it a little. Our one move still pales in comparison to the multiple moves SEA and SF make to be dominant teams in the league.
So, we draft middle of the road speed guy Adams while quicker guys are on the board. We replace slow James with slow Davante. Not only do we subtract James Jones from our arsenal but we add back with a 2nd round pick a guy who is said to be his clone. Just not sound strategy to me. We shall see how it all works out.
