Favre didn't call Rodgers
By Greg A. Bedard

Green Bay - After reading about how Brett Favre called Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo recently to offer encouragement and advice as to how to deal with his pinkie fracture, you may have wondered whether Favre did the same with Aaron Rodgers as he dealt with his sprained shoulder.

Favre didn't.

Asked whether it bothered him Favre called Romo and not him, Rodgers said: "Nope. That doesn't really bother me. At all."

He then flashed a big smile. Read into it what you will.

My response to that is. Brett knows Aaron is tough and doesn't need to be told to play. Tony isn't as tough.

God this stuff is so childish. Any of you guys ever play a sport? I've played basketball for years. Someone gets hurt, hey we miss them and it sucks but I dont have to call them to "offer support". This isn't politics. Its a damn game, and football at that. No crying, no whining.

I get hurt, people care but someone else steps in and you're forgotten. Bottom line, when you're not there, you're not there. Is Favre supposed to call everyone he ever knew once they get hurt, or lose a family member or something happens to them?

Another issue. Uhhh, i didnt like everyone i ever played with. Who the hell says a 38 year old Favre has to be best friends with a 25 year old guy who was looking to take his job and eventually did take his job. Are you kidding me. This isnt fantasy land. Its the real world. Favre doesnt need to call Rodgers and Rodgers is a man and doesnt need Favre to call him.

If were gonna ask stupid questions like this or bring up stupid points like this, here is another one.

Did Rodgers call Favre after management booted his ass out of town? How many players reached out to Favre ? Who knows and who cares. Not really important. I'm sure Favre and the close friends he has spoke and i'm sure the guys who were just another teammate didnt talk.

Get over this mickey mouse baby shit. We had enough of it in the pre-season. I submit.

For those of you that had Week Seven in the office pool, congratulations.

For the rest of us, condolences.

It has officially begun. Only seven weeks into the 2008 NFL season, Brett Favre has broached the subject of the looming will he/wont he debate regarding the continuation of his football career in 2009.

Well take it week to week, Favre said Wednesday. At the end of the season, Ill take a look at . . . Ill assess how I played this year and talk with the Jets and well see from there. I think its way premature to even think about next season.

Hes right, but we would have preferred a response like, Guys, lets worry about 2008 for now. Well worry about 2009 when the calendar says its 2009. (Hey, thats not bad. Brett, feel free to use it. And you dont even have to credit us. We call it the Buffalo News exception.)

We continue to believe that the Jets effort to persuade Favre to play for them (which entailed naming rights to unborn children and perhaps even some good, old-fashioned cuckolding) included a promise by the organization to grant Favre an unconditional release after 2008, if he wants it.

Our guess is that he still hopes to stick it to the Packers, and that he still secretly yearns to play for the Vikings. With Tarvaris Jackson benched and Gus Frerotte named the starter for the rest of the season, the move still makes a lot of sense.

(Before we get flooded with e-mails and comments reminding us of the term that jacks up the price of the trade that sent Favre to New York if hes traded to the Vikings, keep in mind that the trade doesnt impose any type of penalty on the Jets for merely letting him walk away.)

Actually, with Vikings coach Brad Childress possibly in danger of being fired after the 2008 season, finagling Favre might represent Chillys only chance at extending his stay in Minnesota for another season.

Man, Florio just hates him. That's my main problem with the guy (Florio), really -- he's so totally biased in some cases that I can't stand reading anything he writes on those topics.

Seriously, Brett didn't say anything there but a normal, canned response -- then Florio twists it into all that crap. Meh.

From another forum

Here's how Favre's call to Romo really went.

Phone rings. Jessica Simpson answers.

Simpson: Hello?

Favre: Hey Jess, it's Brett. Can I talk to Tony?

Simpson: Schnookie, Brett Favre's on the phone.

Romo takes the phone.

Romo: Hey Brett, how's things?

Favre: P#ssy. (click)

Thanks for the plus 1 Cheesey! I know I was treading on some fairly dangerous terrain, but it WAS in jest, something we could all use a little more of as regards the "fiasco". As to Florio and that "article", most would say he is a big-time Vikes fan, which means in my mind any perception of how he stands as regards Brett should be taken with that in mind. A phone call by Brett to Aaron would be in the nice to have category, and personally, I don't much care one way or the other, and suspect all parties involved feel pretty much the same. Just so everyone knows, I'm not a BF hater, I'm a Ted Thompson fan, which is VERY different. Sorry if my posts offended anyone, not my intent.
Onion's got a good one regarding Romo...
Maybe we can all get a chuckle yet---

Hell, I'm even glad he's going to try and gut it out.
