It would be nice to have a guy in there whose not going to get steamrolled up the middle halfway through the year when his weight drops to 220. The problem we've had with AP and most problems in the running game is not getting hands on them it's bringing them down when we do get hands on. By all means though lets pass on better players for the sake of 1 guy that we have a very small chance of seeing much of in the next few years.

I don't think it's going to be ILB in the 1st anyways. I think the coaches like Hawk/Jones a lot more than everybody else does. More likely to be a DB or some type of lineman I think.

Well, I'm not the least bit concerned about a LB with 143 tackles and 22.5 tackles for loss getting "steamrolled." Shazier would have set all-time records at Ohio State for solo tackles and total tackles had he stayed his senior year. That puts him into some pretty remarkable company, on top of the list.

Somebody's going to get this right, I hope you are not the one.

I'm sure hoping Calvin Pryor or Darqueze Dennard, CB, Michigan State fall to The Packers at 21.

Neither Mosley or especially Shazier grade out to be a #21 pick.

Shazier is an OLB, to think he can come to The Packers and be an immediate upgrade on the inside is just ridiculous.(WHO THE HELL IS MEL KYPER???)

Any of the below fall to 21 I think Ted drafts them, if none of these guys are available, look for Ted to try and find a trade partner to move down a bit or to move completely out of the 1st rnd and pick up extra 2nd and 3rd rnd picks.

Jadeveon Clowney, DE, South Carolina(no way)
Darqueze Dennard, CB, Michigan State(slight possibility)
Anthony Barr, OLB, UCLA(prob not)
Eric Ebron, TE, North Carolina(possible)
Khalil Mack, OLB, Buffalo( prob not)
Hasean Clinton-Dix, FS, Alabama(slight possibility)
Aaron Donald, DT, Pittsburgh(could happen)
Calvin Pryor, FS, Louisville(best chance of happening)

One thing I will guarantee is, if The Packers are talking about a guy now, probably not a very good chance they will be drafting him next week.

If we played a 4-3 or already had a physical thumper at ILB then I could see going with Shazier. With our current cast I'm not sure where he'd fit in. Mosley and his injuries scare me but then again, that might be the trend of the future. Guys playing high level football with a lot snaps with clean bill of health might be a luxury going forward.

GB certainly has a big board and who they value the most. They have an rough idea of what some of the teams are going for. They will be talking to the other teams looking to move up and down depending on how Day 1 progresses and the offers they get and make. With all that going on they are for the most part "sitting" there watching to see who drops in their lap. Just like Aaron did in 2005. I doubt they get that kind of value from the 2014 selection but you just never know. Especially the so called experts.

Shazier has the rare type of athleticism to do whatever he wants. He can play inside or outside linebacker. He’s scheme versatile. Because of his speed, I’d love to see him in a Tampa 2, but I can see him moving inside in a 3-4 and becoming NaVorro Bowman.

He's the total package. He was also insanely productive. You get prospects who are athletes and some people complain about their lack of production. You get productive prospects and others complain about their lack of athleticism. Shazier had over 100-plus tackles for Ohio State. He’s not without flaws. His size (222 pounds) is an issue, but it’d become less of an issue if the Packers put good talent in front of him along the defensive line.

He has grown on me over the last month. Would I take him at No. 21? It depends on who is on the board. I’d prefer Calvin Pryor, Ha-Ha Clinton-Dix, and C.J. Mosley to him. However, his combination of production, athleticism, and upside makes him a round one pick. I wouldn’t be shocked if Arizona scoops him up at No. 20 in front of the Packers.

I will say 1 player I was originally against just because I don't really like the type is Louis Nix but I started watching some of his games and he started to grow on me. He's your typical 2 gap nose tackle type but he stood out to me because it seemed like he was spending a lot of his plays in the opponents back field. He's not going to be the guy who brings down the QB but he'll sure make it hard for him to step up. Just a thought of someone they might go with since I'd rather not re-sign Raji even if he has a good year (don't trust him to perform after a payday).

beast (8h) : What is he supposed to say? He doesn't want players currently on the team?
Martha Careful (12h) : meh
Zero2Cool (16h) : Sounds like Walker and Wyatt will be with Packers for beyond 2026

Zero2Cool (22h) : If only we had a topic to read about and discuss it. That's something new website must have!!!
dfosterf (23h) : Justice Musqueda over at Acme Packing put up an excellent synopsis of the Packers 1st round options this am
wpr (19-Apr) : 5 days
beast (18-Apr) : 6 days
wpr (17-Apr) : 7 days
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.
dfosterf (15-Apr) : I may have to move
dfosterf (15-Apr) : My wife just told the ancient Japanese sushi dude not enough rice under his fish
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I think a dozen is what I need
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
