Analyst Terry Bradshaw called Packers coach Mike McCarthy a great offensive mind. Jimmy Johnson said McCarthy was playing scared.

I totally agree with Johnson, I was saying it all half that he is calling plays scared. Did we even throw the ball over 15 yards with Tolzein? But look the 1st play for Flynn was a play action on 1st down, where was that calling in the 1st half?
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

They can say what they want. They are outsiders. I believe in the guys running this team and I believe in our players. We need to win on Thursday. That's all to be concerned about.

Our overtime record with McCarthy speaks to something in his brain that switches off. He has been lucky this team has managed to rack up huge amounts of points and often we are allowed to play prevent 4th quarter defence. When things get close and tight I am not sure, but I feel he tends to overthink things. I cannot for the life of understand the playcalling at the end of the game and our first possession in overtime when we were in a position to score. Flynn had them on their heels and then it felt like we slowed things down by switching to the run.

1. He really doesn't trust Flynn in tight places like the red zone.
2. He trusts the defense to hold APete in check.
3. If both GB and MN make FGs he assumed GB would come right back down field and get a second FG for the win.

This goes back a ways, and it's a different sport, but McCarthy reminds me of Larry Costello coaching the Bucks with Alcindor/Kareem. He had a damn good record, but it was the superstar that made him.

I agree McCarthy was hyper-cautious - too much so - with Tolzien and probably even with Flynn. However, I wonder how many of the detractors of this were the same people bellyaching about his pass first mentality before Rodgers was injured.

With Aaron, Ds are gonna emphasise the deep zones. They're gonna take guys OUT of the box and give extra help deep.

In both scenarios, Mike is attacking areas of strength. Throwing and/or running into triple or quadruple coverage.

WTF. I guess you think Polish football is the way to go.
