So how did this singing thing come about?
Daryn Colledge: We were on 'You've Got Talent,' and they saw some work we did. That's pretty much it.
Did somebody pass on it and that's how you guys got picked?
Jason Spitz: Why did somebody have to pass on it?
DC: We saw an ad.
JS: Why did somebody have to pass on it?
DC: I know, why couldn't it just be for Colledge and Spitz? Why does somebody have to pass on it?
Because you're Colledge and Spitz. (Spitz goes to the showers) Uh, anyways, when did you film it?
DC: In the preseason.
Was it through the league?
DC: Yeah, I mean we had NFLPA representation there but it's through State Farm obviously.
Tell me exactly how somebody approached you about signing in a commercial.
DC: Well, we didn't even know we were going to sing until we got there for the commercial. State Farm passed down through the NFLPA that they were looking to do the offensive line, they wanted the offensive line to do a commercial. Logistics didn't work out, they couldn't get the whole offensive line. They asked for two of us. Me and Spitz pretty much volunteered to do it, you know, thought it would be a good time. We enjoy getting out and working. That was it. We found out we were going to sing about 10 minutes after we landed.
Where was it filmed?
DC: Minneapolis. Yeah, at a local high school in the area.
What has the reaction been?
DC: I think the guys have rode us a little bit and tried to make fun, but most everybody is giving us positive reviews, said it was a lot of fun, said it was a good commercial. I hope State Farm has a lot of success with it.
Good payday?
DC: (Laughing) No. I mean obviously they compensated us for our work but nothing like maybe some of the bigger names in the commercial made.
Who has the better singing voice, you or Spitz?
DC: Oh, I don't know. I think that's a karoke throwdown right there. We'll have to find out. I have a couple years of choir but word on the street is he's like a three-year varsity letter in the choir so who knows?
