Four days into training camp, the Green Bay Packers already are seeing how invaluable their quality depth at cornerback could be once the regular season begins.
One starter, Tramon Williams, is expected to miss at least two weeks of camp because of a sore knee that flared up Sunday.
Another possible starter, Casey Hayward, hasn’t practiced because of a hamstring injury.
And a third possible starter, Davon House, returned to practice Tuesday after missing the first three practices because of food poisoning that morphed into a nasty, balance-inhibiting ear infection.
Yet, they’re finding they might be even deeper than they suspected. Rookie Micah Hyde, a fifth-round draft pick who figured to be a deep backup this season, has emerged as one of several impressive rookies in camp. The early signs suggest he can help this team if injuries open the door and challenge the others when they’re healthy.
