Vince Lombardi's legacy as one of, if not the greatest NFL coach continues well into the 21st century. For the past 50 years his greatness is indisputable. But is he really number one among all NFL coaches? Well, we'll know by Tuesday, June 11, as ESPN continues its "Greatest Coaches in NFL History' countdown with [...]

I'll have to mention Curly Lambeau.

Maybe George Halas. Bill Walsh? Great innovater and champion. Paul Brown, Chuck Knoll, Tom Landry.

Ok, that's my list.

I still say if they hadn't fired Starr, the Packers would've been in the playoffs the next year.

Pretty good thorough list. Several names come to mind: Weeb Ewbank, Don Coryell, Bum Phillips. and Mike Ditka.

I'd put Paul Brown higher up and maybe Jimmy Johnson. Walsh maybe should be ahead of Shula for second and third. Another name to consider: Jim Lee Howell - head coach that both Lombardi and Landry worked under.

  • Vince Lombardi
  • Bill Belichick
  • Chuck Noll

No one can realistically nor intelligently deny the top three.

Sure I can, Culy won six NFL Championships, more than any of them.
Why is Jerry Kramer not in the Hall of Fame?

    1. Vince
    2. Curly
    3. Papa Halas.

No one can argue with this list. Without #2 & 3 there would be no NFL today.

How many other guys did so well coaching and playing at the same time? That took real rocks. Not Bellacheat or Noll.

For the record, I said Lombardi, Walsh, and Shula.
