WOW!!! I have just been informed that I have won the Spring 2013 Sun City West, AZ. Seniors Trivia Contest that took place on March 11-12 while we were vacationing there at my brother-in-laws house.
My brother-in-law, Gene; Ernie, a good friend of his and mine; and myself, entered a trivia contest at one of the recreation centers in Sun City West that took place on March 11 and 12. I realized that late on the evening of March 11th I was one of only 5 people "still standing." The next day we had to answer ten old trivia questions about the 50's, and I thought I was out of it. Hell, these guys had to be at least in their mid seventies and I was just hitting 70, so they had the age advantage. But,...I figured that dementia had to have hit in by then for them and I was a shoo-in.
The last question asked was.....(and this is the God's truth)..".What former Milwaukee Braves baseball player hit 4 home runs and a double in one game to set a major league record of 18 total bases in one game?"
Man....I snapped on that in one second. Joe Adcock hit 4 homers and a double against the Dodgers in 1954.
So.....I just recieved a T-shirt that says...
"OF COURSE I'M RIGHT
I,M BOB"
The reason it took so long to confirm the winner.....remember these are old people as judges.......is that another guy had almost the correct answer but put down the wrong team he played for. I guess they had to have a meeting of all those over age 90 to vote on the winner. That would have taken a considerable amount of time get that together. Plus my donation of $10 to their beer party fund might have helped.
So.............."I'm Bob....I'm always right."
