Here we are at the start of the 2013 NFL season. Let the great debates roll on!   Sign a FA?  Keep your own?  Difference maker free agent? Hole filler? Last gasp?  Which leads to next big thing, the team has to draft this position this year! { fill in your choice}. Everyone goes nuts this [...]

For all of my knocks recently on Brad Jones, he seems like a player who could make the jump to the next level. I hope he does. He did fairly well in pass defense, sacks, and turnovers for a guy who was literally thrown into the mix early. Add Bishop and Perry coming back, with Manning healthy, Moses working into his 2nd year backing up Matthews, we may be alright at LB. This position group is super dependent on starters returning from injury.

With that said, I think our greatest need on defense is a top flight DE, followed closely by a bad ass NT and DT. We were an absolute mess up front last season. We couldn't contain, and our pass rush from the DL was abysmal. Pickett is not getting any younger, and Raji needs a legit backup to work with in a rotation. Mike Neal showed promise last season, and I hope his play improves in 2013. I do think we should be looking to do better than CJ Wilson at DE.

I think if we hit on all three of these positions early in the draft, with really sound choices, our defense will improve greatly.

I'm not worried about our secondary, at all. Maybe adding a S would be good if there is a great one to pick, but I like McMillian, and I think he will come along in his 2nd year to be a much improved player.

DL. That's where we really need the help.

Agree, I would be ecstatic if somehow we got 2 of Hunt, Gholston and Kruger. I don't know how high a pick they would be worthy of or even if they would be good. But I think Dom's defense would be much better with a couple of good/decent 6'5"+ and 300 lb+ DEs.
Why is Jerry Kramer not in the Hall of Fame?

Here's another player at a different position that I believe could really help our team:

Thumper Back: Le'Veon Bell 6-2 240

I would love to see Green Bay draft a power runner, someone who will hurt our opponents with every rush. It would be awesome to see, and would immensely help both sides of the ball for us, by sustaining drives and chewing up clock. Please, please, please..... !!!!

CJ Wilson is what he is. Raji can improve by not being overused and by playing NT, which is his natural position.

Neal still hasn't hit his ceiling, imo. Definitely Perry and Moses are on the rise. McMillian, Hayward, Shields, even Morgan Burnett can and imo SHOULD get better.

MD Jennings is what he is. He can try to bulk up and increase his strength. That remains to be seen. Smart dude though. Doesn't make mistakes, question on him is can he get stronger.

House is on the rise, just being that he had to play in a harness last year. I've got high hopes for House.

These younger guys, James Nixon and Sean Richardson have potential. You just never know with this staff. Definitely seem to have the measurables.

Another player I will mention in this regard is Tramon Williams. We've seen what he can do. If that shoulder can come back, he could dominate once again.

Martha Careful (25-Jun) : I would have otherwise admirably served
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Also, no more provision for a write-in candidate, so Martha is off the table at least for this year
dfosterf (25-Jun) : You do have to interpret the boring fine print, but all stockholders all see he is on the ballot
dfosterf (25-Jun) : It also says he is subject to another ballot in 2028. I recall nothing of this nature with Murphy
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy is on my ballot subject to me penciling him in as a no.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : I thought it used to be we voted for the whatever they called the 45, and then they voted for the seven, and then they voted for Mark Murphy
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Because I was too lazy to change my address, I haven't voted fot years until this year
dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.
Zero2Cool (25-Jun) : Maybe wicked wind chill made it worse?
Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : And then he signs with Cleveland in the offseason
Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : @SharpFootball WR Diontae Johnson just admitted he refused to enter a game in 41° weather last year in Baltimore because he felt “ice cold”
