You guys are very touchy about your anthem šŸ˜›.

Half the time only the players on the field (soccer) sing it over here (without mics, ofcourse), and when someone sings it, it doesn't seem to be that big a deal. (Although, I can't remember someone ever 'butchering' our anthem)

Since the terrorist attack we have had alot more feeling about our anthem.
Before that attack, i think alot of people felt like the anthem was just something done before the start of a atheletic event. Then it became a song that brought us all together. It stands for something now. (It always did to me, but it seems it is to most people now)

I don't know that anyone is saying it doesn't mean anything. I just think booing someone who is trying to do their best with someone so near and dear to us as our anthem is ... not right.

You missunderstand Zero..........i meant before 9/11 most people didn't take the anthem seriously.
If you read the previous posts in this thread, you would see i agree 100% with you on booing being wrong.

Yeah. I guess I'm one of the few who have always taken it seriously. I remember in chorus (shut up) and when we sang that one I always tried harder because it meant something more to me.

I was raised a Jehovah's Witness, so it means LOTS to me. I wasn't allowed to sing it or even stand for it when i was a kid.
That makes me appreciate it alot more now. After we got out of that cult, i asked my Mom why it was wrong to love my country, to honor the anthem and the flag. You know what she told me? She said "You know what? I never understood that either."
We were brain washed, plain and simple.
I LOVE my country, and show it every chance i get.

dfosterf (27-Jul) : The white background beta was hard to read, especially the quotes
dfosterf (27-Jul) : Hopefully the color scheme remains the same
dfosterf (27-Jul) : *Friday*
dfosterf (27-Jul) : 100 million would be 539 million as of Fridsy
