Until someone fixes the philosophy of the head coach, fix the O-line and get rid of Campen it doesn't matter who the Packers have at running back.
Barry Sanders is the only guy I can think of who would be able to make something out of nothing in Green Bay.
The only problem being he still would not get enough carries with McCarthy calling the plays.

They were more effective in their final eight regular-season games, rushing for at least 110 yards in six of those contests. McCarthy isn't a perfect play caller. Frankly, I think he's a bit too stubborn and he doesn't make the best adjustments. Nevertheless, James Starks, DuJuan Harris, Cedric Benson, and Alex Green managed to churn out yardage behind this so-called awful offensive line, and with McCarthy calling plays. If they can make an impact, then there's no question in my mind Jackson can make an impact, assuming he's durable enough to produce (a fair question at his age).

Rodgers rushed for 259 yards last year. So that leaves 1702 - 259 = 1,443 / 16 = 90.2 yards per game for our quad of mediocrity. If we could ever put together a consistent running game for the guy, what could his quarterback rating become? But then again, you'd have to get McCarthey to buy into running the ball more.

One of my biggest objections to Mike and Aaron's "Run and Shoot" philosophy is the emphasis on AVOIDING time of possession.

McCarthy actually stuck with the run pretty well last year considering how bad the team was at it. It always seems like unless 1 guy is getting 30 carries people act like they aren't trying to run it. Who cares if the carries are split between 2 or 3 people. Last year even when Green was getting nowhere time after time McCarthy still kept putting the ball in his hands.

They were 16th in passing attempts and 16th in rushing attempts so they had a good mix attempt wise there is just a huge discrepancy between effectiveness off run/pass. The main problem is how often defenders break free and hit or tackle our backs in the backfield.

Yeah, we already have our project safeties. It would be nice to get Wilson, but I have no idea what he has left in the tank.

I don't understand why people are even talking about Harrison or Jackson and not a guy like Jake Long. The game is won and lost in the trenches. Last years drubbing the 9ers laid on us should have tought us that, yet we ponder what a long in the tooth running back can bring?

I agree about Long though! He's been banged up the last two years but my gosh when he's healthy he's top 10 LT in the NFL and that doesnt pop up in the market often. I think some oldschool midwest living would bring him some new life!

This makes me confident that a little more dedication to the run and an improvement in run blocking the Packers could actually be a fairly decent running team.
Which would help keep AR from taking the terrible beating that he takes every year in the form of sacks and knockdowns.
