We can talk about Hawk and McMillian and the MLB situation, the lack of quality depth on the DL, but we all know what the problem is with this defense.
A 3-4 defense needs TWO OLB WHO CAN PLAY.
They need to be able to get to the QB, and they need to be able to cover reasonably well. Or, in the case of Nick Perry, let's say his priority is stuffing the run. Just being the type of player and body type that he has.
This defense needs a guy opposite Clay. As yet, we have not had that. Maybe Perry will work out, but as yet all I've seen at the position has been a bunch of scrubs. Walden's an ok backup, but dude's a marginal player and fades after November.
Remember all those years when Favre was throwing to guys like Bill Schroeder and Taco Wallace and shit? Ted made it a priority to stock this team with WRs who can play. That has significantly benefited the offense.
Dude needs to get THREE OLBs who can play. Let's get some depth at the position. Then we can WHIP SOME ASS in the playoffs.
