I can almost guarantee that you'll see some extensions get taken care of before the end of this season, so that the 2008 cap can be utilized in the contracts.

Lots of young guys and plenty of room in the Cap... not a problem in my eyes... Plenty of money to sign the guys we want and need to keep hold of and bring in anyone who may stand out.

Again, another favourible position to be in for the team, and its up to the players this year to prove they are worth the big $$$!

I'm pretty sure KGB won't be here so that'll free up a few million too.

I got the feeling that Ted Thompson had already talked to Greg too, but the comment about playing for the other teams has me concerned. Mainly cuz I just bought a Jennings jersey...hope he stays put.

I don't like those quotes from Greg Jennings. That got me a little worried. You never want a guy saying that he is auditoning for 32 teams, not just the Packers.

Give Greg the biggest deal possible. Then clone him into 25 productive units.

Of the players mentioned in the article whose contracts will expire within the next two years, the only two that I would count as must-haves are Aaron Rodgers and Greg Jennings. We'll see about Clifton and Tauscher. I hope they remain healthy and productive, but at their age, Thompson may not want to break the bank for them. Pickett, Jolly, and Blackmon would be nice to keep if they stay healthy.

Players mentioned in the article who I regard as fairly easy to replace are Colledge, Moll, Spitz, Collins, and obviously Chillar. And KGB may be at the end of the line by then.

So if you look at it this way, the "numbers crunch" may not be too bad.

well as much as i would love for Greg Jennings to say... I love the Packers and I will never leave as long as they will have me. it is after all, a business and i think the "other 31 teams" quote was something the staff was preaching in camp if i remember correctly. Its just a fact, everytime you step on the field you are either increasing your pay day or ruining it. So come 2009 when the Packers want to sign you but dont have the funds, you can get signed by another team. The NFL is a business at its core, and money will always come first.

this will be interesting because there is a lot of dudes fighting for a set amount of money. but thats the beauty of the draft young and resign your guys philosophy. This is where Ted Thompson and his staff make their money. With smart drafting and sensible contract negotiations, this team will be good for years to come.

I don't think Spitz is in any way easy to replace. I believe in Harvey... Jason Spitz.

Zero2Cool (9h) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (9h) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (11h) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (12h) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job
dfosterf (13h) : Martha- C'est mon boulot! 😁
Zero2Cool (13h) : Thank you
wpr (13h) : Z, glad you are feeling better.
wpr (13h) : My son and D-I-L work for UM. It's a way to pick on them.
Zero2Cool (13h) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (13h) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (13h) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (14h) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (14h) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (14h) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (14h) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (14h) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Oh snap!!!
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Even Stevie Wonder can see that.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Nah, you see Lions OC leaving to be HC of Bears is directly related to Packers.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ohhhhhhh Zero is in TROUBLE
packerfanoutwest (21-Jan) : Zero, per your orders, check Bearshome, not packershome
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Then he'll land with another team and flourish.
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Ben going to Bears. He'll be out in 3 years.
Mucky Tundra (20-Jan) : what's so funny?
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Bears are finalizing a deal to hire Ben Johnson as their head coach. (via @tompelissero )
Mucky Tundra (20-Jan) : Looks like Lions OC Ben Johnson is going to be the Bears coach
