Hello Folks,

I'm new to this board; good to meet you!

In a nutshell, I'm a lifelong Pack fan, but never got the opportunity to go to a game at Lambeau, despite growing up in WI. Now, I live in central Indiana and received a letter indicating I'm coming off the waiting list for season tickets(Gold).

Bottom line: I am SO excited to go to games beginning 2013.

For those of you who have been to a game, I'd love to hear:

1. Your favorite Lambeau Field story/memory. Sharing our stories here is not only motivating and interesting to me, but I bet very meaningful to others to read.

2. Any suggestions you have on how best to enjoy the game-day experience (suggested restaurants, parking, rituals, people to see, where to tailgate, etc.).

Can't wait to learn from you!

Easy one for me. I told this one a few years ago on this site.

September 24, 2001. The first Monday nite game after the 9-11 attack. Everyone was in a very somber but patriotic mood.

This was before all the remolding to the stadium had been completed and before the Packer's tunnel had been moved to the south endzone.

Just before the start of the game the Packers come out of their tunnel on the north side and ran on to the field. They were lead out by backup LBer Chris Gizzi. He was holding an American flag in his right hand and ran from endzone to endzone. He was in the Air Force Reserves and his teammates voted for him to carry the flag. He sprinted the whole way and never switched hands nor did he use both of them. It was a pretty large flag and I couldn't believe he didn't get tired. Well he didn't show that he was getting tired would be more accurate.

They unfurled a large flag that was held by local fire firelighters and police. It stretched nearly the whole length of the field and was a bit unwieldy. Players from both teams went out and took a hold of the flag as well standing right next to the the police and firemen.

At the conclusion of the National Anthem the jets roared over the stadium and everyone was cheering and in tears. This was before fly overs become so common place.

As for the game, during the preseason, Washington was considered to be a pretty good team but GB absolutely trounced them 37-0. Washington ended up 8-8 GB 12-4.

I too have the gold package and typically come up the west side of Lake Winnebago. We stay some where between Oshkosh and Appleton. My son lives in Chicago and the games that I take him to are almost always up and back the same day. But I have been looking at the map and I think I will stay around Sheboygan to Manitowoc.

There are a lot of private parking lots around the area. The ones close to the field are around $20. I park in one that is 3/4 mile away. It takes about 15 minutes. It costs $10. There is also street parking in that area for free but sometimes it fills up pretty quickly. 10 years ago I could get a parking space 30 minutes before the game. Now if I am there an hour before hand the area is almost all full and I have to walk more than a mile. I don't mind but it is hard my wife.

When my wife and I go we almost always walk up Holmgren Way. There is music and tents at Anduzzi's Bar and Stadium View. Along with some as you walk up Armed Forces Dr. She also likes to stop in at The Jersey Store on the corner.

When it gets a little closer we can talk some more.

WPR - Your story of Gizzi gave me goosebumps! That really must have been something to see, no doubt.

Thanks for sharing some tips about parking, etc. Actually, that's very helpful.

Thanks, again, for your thoughts. I'll probably have more questions at some point.

Nothing worse than a 10-20 mile trip taking 2 hours because of traffic or getting trapped in your parking spot. If you're going south to Appleton, park east, or south of lambeau. Park on the edge of someone's yard, dont park where you can get blocked in by other parked cars. DO NOT attempt to get onto 41 south, if you are north of lombardi avenue, they have it blocked off and you will rage like no other. I seriously recommend finding a place to stay within walking distance of lambeau, it will probably cost a lot more, and be booked well in advance, but avoiding the MOODKILLING traffic will absolutely be worth the extra cost. If you plan on partying in curly's pub, or at a bar in green bay after the game, everything I said can be ignored because the traffic will be gone by the time you are ready to go.
BAD EMAIL because the address couldn ot be found, or is unable to receive mail.

I always park at the Ashwaubenon public building. (I believe it's on Holmgren way) It's only like $5 and they have inside bathrooms you can use there. It's a bit of a walk from there to the stadium, but you get to take in the action of tailgaters on the way. And it's just down the street from the "Stadium View" bar.

One of my fondest memories was of the "snow bowl" playoff win against the Seahawks. We started off bad with Grant giving up a couple fumbles, and roared back for a huge win. It was Favre's last win as a Packer.
There was NO snow, and then in the second half the snow flakes were bigger then i ever saw, with no wind. It was like being in a giant "snow globe". There was a point where i couldn't see the field.
I took pictures when the game started, with a 100% clear field, and then when it was nothing BUT snow. It was an atmosphere i never saw before, and probably will never see again.
Plus i got to meet "Yooperfan" from here at the game. It was a great time!

Some of the games I have been to have varied bigtime. My very first game was back in 84 and it was the Monday Night Shoot Out between the Packers and Redskins. I was also at the Packers Vs Steelers (yancy Thigpen dropped TD puts us in the playoffs) Been to around 15 games in my life and hard to decide my favorite, but as IronMan would confess to the game against Seattle a few years ago on Christmas Eve, sure we won the game because I haven't been to a regular season game we lost. But the best part was I was sitting right next to the Bikini Girls thanks to Ironman :)

Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

I was also at the 52-3 win several years ago in the 4-12 season.
It was the ONLY blow out win i have been to. It was fun sitting there and watching the score run up.
And i won the 2 tickets at our local Pick and Save grocery store.

dfosterf (18-Aug) : We do have good depth at running back imo. Still so frustrating. Bitching about it is a futile excercise, which I plan to do anyway.
Mucky Tundra (17-Aug) : Whoops, I thought Zero was saying it was a surprise the Brewers lost and not Lloyd being hurt
Mucky Tundra (17-Aug) : Not a surprise; inevitable
Zero2Cool (17-Aug) : Brewers streak ends at 14
Zero2Cool (17-Aug) : SURPRISE

Zero2Cool (16-Aug) : 90 MINUTES UNTIL FAKE KICKOFF!!
Martha Careful (16-Aug) : I think Ruven is a bot, but regardless should be stricken from the site.
Zero2Cool (14-Aug) : Packers RB Josh Jacobs ranked No. 33 in NFL 'Top 100'
dfosterf (13-Aug) : The LVN Musgrave collision- Andy Herman said Musgrave seemed to be the one most impacted injury-wise
dfosterf (13-Aug) : a lower back injury
dfosterf (13-Aug) : Doubs says he's "fine" after injury scare. Some reported it as z
Mucky Tundra (13-Aug) : With LVN that is; need to see what happens in the next practice
Mucky Tundra (13-Aug) : beast, reading about what happened, it sounded like one of those "two guys collide and are moving slow afterwards" type of deals
beast (12-Aug) : I believe Musgrave has been injured every single season since at least a Sophomore in highschool
packerfanoutwest (12-Aug) : Matt LaFleur: “Highly unlikely” Jordan Love plays more this preseason
dfosterf (12-Aug) : Doubs, Savion Williams, LVN, Musgrave all banged up to one degree or another, missing one here I forget
Zero2Cool (12-Aug) : RB Tyrion Davis-Price is signing with the Green Bay Packers.
Zero2Cool (12-Aug) : zero help, dominated. preseason
beast (12-Aug) : QB Jordan Love has surgery
beast (12-Aug) : Martha said Morgan had a lot of help, I didn't watch the OL so I can't say.
Zero2Cool (10-Aug) : Packers LT Jordan Morgan did not allow a single pressure across 23 pass-blocking snaps vs. Jets last night, per PFF
Mucky Tundra (10-Aug) : With buckeye and the reasonable couple, we're currently sitting at 10
buckeyepackfan (10-Aug) : Just posted to re-up on our FFL.
Zero2Cool (10-Aug) : If healthy after, then thats all I care. Well, no drops would be nice
wpr (10-Aug) : I made it through the 1st Q.
dfosterf (10-Aug) : Just gotta figure out how.
dfosterf (10-Aug) : Could have been a worse start, so there is that.
beast (10-Aug) : Yeah, someone tell the Packers football season has started, seems like they weren't ready for it
Mucky Tundra (10-Aug) : Sooooooo many penalties
Mucky Tundra (10-Aug) : It may only be preseason, but this game is a trip to the dentist
Zero2Cool (10-Aug) : Packers do bad -- FREAK OUT!!!!!!
Zero2Cool (10-Aug) : Packers do good -- eh only preseason
dfosterf (10-Aug) : Well that half was fun
Zero2Cool (10-Aug) : Great, zayne is down
Zero2Cool (9-Aug) : 13 minutes away from kickkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkoffff
Zero2Cool (9-Aug) : Had Celebration of Life for my uncle up north. wicked rain hope it dont come south
Mucky Tundra (9-Aug) : THE GREEN BAY PACKERS ARE PLAYING FOOTBALL TONIGHT!!!!!! THIS IS NOT A DRILL!!!!
Zero2Cool (9-Aug) : Woo-hoo
TheKanataThrilla (9-Aug) : NFL Network is broadcasting the game tonight, but not in Canada. Not sure why as no local television is showing the game.
beast (8-Aug) : But the Return from IR designations had to be applied by the 53 man cutdown.
beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Apparently it is too complicated for several to follow your simple instructions, but I digress
