Great thought and gesture. It is obvious he loves America.

Not sure how he donated it.. But, if it was me, I would have picked one specific needy family and purchased them directly what they needed. (Not wanted.. needed.) Bureaucracy is a sleazy slut. Look what happened to money that was donated to victims of the Tsunami in Japan.

The Red Cross is a parasite feeding on the kind people of America.. So is The United Way. If one has to go through anyone.. It should be The Salvation Army, the best group of the bunch.

Great on Chuck though.. Class act.

Running the numbers from that article, at least Red Cross still does circles around that Susan Komen Breast Cancer scam. With the latter, almost none of it goes to breast cancer research.

I'm with RP. You gotta be careful about who you're giving money to. A lot of charities aren't that good.

Pessimism aside, it's a great thing to do, especially when you have more money than you can reasonably spend.

However as the good people we are, we should do our research and find charities that come close to accomplishing what we want to accomplish. The Salvation Army is a damn good charity.

sad that you REALLY need to research a chairity.

the Suzan G. Komen foundation (responsible for all the pink NFL games) only puts $0.20 of every dollar toward research.

11% goes to employee salarys, which may not sound like much but last year they made nearly 400 million.

I may be wearing my tinfoil hat here, but there are ALOT better places I'd rather put my money.

And, although many pols spoke, no one was more impassioned than Borough President James Molinaro, who called the Red Cross an “absolute disgrace” and even urged the public to cease giving them contributions.

“Because the devastation in Staten Island, the lack of a response,” Mr. Molinaro said to explain his comment to NBC after the press conference. “You know, I went to a shelter Monday night after the storm. People were coming in with no socks, with no shoes. They were in desperate need. Their housing was destroyed. They were crying. Where was the Red Cross? Isn’t that their function?

All one has to do is just look at the American Red Cross history. This is not new news.

One of the things I found so disturbing is it has being going on for almost forever.

Google "WWII+VETERENS+RED CROSS+ANGER"

The Red Cross trains young men and women to be life guards, but they charge these kids for profit for the training. They charge more for the same certification that many private companies do and private companies give the kids better training to be a life guard.

Minor disasters are the Red Cross expertise. Take the three or four year floods in places like North Dakota. The Red Cross has a $40,000 dollar canteen vehicle set up "Selling" hot coffee for fifty cents a cup. While down the road the Salvation Army has a tent set up in a puddle giving out FREE hot coffee, FREE oranges, Free bottled water, and FREE donated blankets and clothing.

Sorry.. I am ranting.

Viable information and glad it was shared, but anyone else find it ironic that it was RaiderPride who pissed in the cheerios of someone else? lol normally he's the one who drops down a quip on how others are too negative!! :)

Edit, split this off because I want to see where this thread goes. I'm intrigued by the topic.

I can see him being really pissed off if he gave $100 to what he thought would be a good cause and finding that $95 went to bureaucracy and $5 went to the cause when he could have given the $100 straight to the cause.

dfosterf (26-Jun) : I think it would be great to have someone like Tom Grossi or Andy Herman on the Board of Directors so he/they could inform us
dfosterf (26-Jun) : Fair enough, WPR. Thing is, I have been a long time advocate to at least have some inkling of the dynamics within the board.
wpr (26-Jun) : 1st world owners/stockholders problems dfosterf.
Martha Careful (25-Jun) : I would have otherwise admirably served
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Also, no more provision for a write-in candidate, so Martha is off the table at least for this year
dfosterf (25-Jun) : You do have to interpret the boring fine print, but all stockholders all see he is on the ballot
dfosterf (25-Jun) : It also says he is subject to another ballot in 2028. I recall nothing of this nature with Murphy
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy is on my ballot subject to me penciling him in as a no.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : I thought it used to be we voted for the whatever they called the 45, and then they voted for the seven, and then they voted for Mark Murphy
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Because I was too lazy to change my address, I haven't voted fot years until this year
dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.
Zero2Cool (25-Jun) : Maybe wicked wind chill made it worse?
Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : And then he signs with Cleveland in the offseason
Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : @SharpFootball WR Diontae Johnson just admitted he refused to enter a game in 41° weather last year in Baltimore because he felt “ice cold”
Zero2Cool (24-Jun) : Yawn. Rodgers says he is "pretty sure" this be final season.
Zero2Cool (23-Jun) : PFT claims Packers are having extension talks with Zach Tom, Quay Walker.
Mucky Tundra (20-Jun) : GB-Minnesota 2004 Wild Card game popped up on my YouTube page....UGH
beast (20-Jun) : Hmm 🤔 re-signing Walker before Tom? Sounds highly questionable to me.
Mucky Tundra (19-Jun) : One person on Twitter=cannon law
Zero2Cool (19-Jun) : Well, to ONE person on Tweeter
Zero2Cool (19-Jun) : According to Tweeter

dfosterf (18-Jun) : Beats the hell out of a Vikings signing
Zero2Cool (18-Jun) : Baltimore Ravens now have signed former Packers CB Jaire Alexander.

dfosterf (14-Jun) : There was minicamp Thursday. My man Taylor Engersma threw
dfosterf (11-Jun) : There will be a mini camp practice Thursday.
Zero2Cool (11-Jun) : He's been sporting a ring for a while now. It's probably Madonna.
Martha Careful (10-Jun) : We only do the tea before whoopee, it relaxes me.
wpr (10-Jun) : That's awesome Martha.
Mucky Tundra (10-Jun) : How's the ayahuasca tea he makes, Martha?
