This past weekend, including last night, several players have gotten hurt via the cut block, not a chop but a "legal" cut block.

If the NFL seriously wants to show a level of concern about player safety, not just to try and minimize the damages of a lawsuit or to protect its golden boys at the QB position, it will deem the cut block illegal.

If a block is below mid thigh and down, it should be illegal.

But do we see emphasis on this illegal play, no we do not, it would hurt the offense and thus possibly reduce points, thus possibly the ratings.

So they can take their pledge of player safety being on the forefront, turn it sideways and ram it where the sun doesn't shine.

Hypocritical bullshit.

Heard the NFL is finally going to "Look" at cut blocks.. probably because a highly marketable player was lost to it.

Player safety my ass.. protecting the cash cow. Yes.

They're damned if they do and damned if they do. If they go after helmet to helmet hits, they need to go after other hits with a higher incidence of associated injuries. If they don't, they're not being serious about player safety. If they do, they're just making football progressively more wussy.

There are rules, most notably surrounding the QB, that has a far higher wussification factor.. especially how they are selectively enforced.

I have hated cut blocking from way back in the Denver John Elway days. I know it's not synonymous, but I've always equated the ZBS with cut blocking. I was mortified when Mike McCarthy instituted our own ZBS system. I would be happy if the NFL outlawed these types of blocks.
