I just don't see this.

Starks hasn't made strides as a pass blocker or ball carrier. He just doesn't carry himself like a reliable, top-flight player.

I know Arodge has called Starks out on the field for his pass blocking (or lack thereof) but damn. McGinn's saying Starks isn't "Packer People?" That's pretty harsh. Maybe the coaches wanted McGinn to call Starks out in the press. I dunno.

Do I think Green might be the more dynamic, exciting player? Sure. But I just don't get McGinn cracking on Starks in this way. Maybe it's all for the good, and Starks will get with the pass pro a little more. Dude's got skills, imo.

Here's  another blog article on the topic, suggesting that the Packers have "shown insterest in Cedric Benson." WHAT!?

The Packers have been mentioned as a team that’s shown some interest in free agent running back Cedric Benson. They could end up signing him within the next few weeks if they don’t like how things are turning out with the guys they currently have.

I like Saine the most out of these guys. I like Starks's toughness but Saine is the best all around player to me and can catch quite well.

But I agree he is being a bit too harsh with that packer people comment. It is out of line but I think journalism needs a little bit of sensationalism.

I too like Starks' toughness. Starks though isn't a pass blocker and wasn't impressive as a pass catcher either. We could use a good 3rd round back. Whether that person remains on our roster remains to be seen.

As much as I like Starks, the one thing that has me worried is he tends to be injury prone, and that's possibly as a result of Starks' running style. Grant avoided tackles. Starks broke them. You're less likely to get hurt avoiding tackles. See Hall of Famer Earl Campbell for example.

I personally can't wait to see what Green can do for us. I like the idea he knows how to block and catch the ball. Hell with our offense running the ball is just an after thought anyway lol. I remember Rodgers on ESPN and they asked him if he thought they needed a better running game and all he said was "why". So I say lets see what this Green kid can do for us. After all the last Green we had at running back wasn't to shabby.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

this is a big year for starks, as of now theres no grant and green is coming off a injury, he has to step up and show he is the man this year. i have confidence he can do the job, with a qb like aaron he wont have to carry the team on his shoulders just be there when we need him on big downs !!

As much as Ryan Grant was maligned on this forum, he was a dependable, not flashy rb, who was a ble to the job that was aked of him.

Coaches are hoping Starks can be that guy. They also have to be ready to go to plan B if they find he can't carry the load.

Starks has shown flashes of real talent, but if he can't sustain the level of play expected of him, then it's better to find out now, early in TC, than to wait till the season begins and have him not be able to do the job.

I like Starks, but he didn't impress me at the "family night" practice.
I want to see him in the preseason, to see if he has "it".

To me, the rap on Starks is his pass protection. That's a legit concern.

I just don't see calling his character into question.

As fas as the injury concern, I don't think anyone could come back from that ankle injury he had last year. That was grotesque. I'd like to see him stay healthy though. But the fact is, RBs take a pounding in the NFL.

I think Starks has a natural ability to find positive yardage. He's a HUGE reason for us winning the superbowl, because he gave us great balance. Hope he stays injury free, but it's really hard for running backs in this league to stay healthy all the time.

I think that physically Starks is a good blocker. When he knows where to go and gets in front of someone they don't really get by him. He just needs to get it down mentally and make sure he gets in the right position.

beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
