1. If you were to go to Washington to protest something, where would the three most effective places to do so be if you're trying to get the idiot politicians/press to pay attention? (ignoring whether it's against the law or not for the moment).

My answer: i. White House lawn. ii. Capitol steps. iii. The Capitol stop on the special subway train that elected officials use to get from office buildings to the Capitol.

2. If you were to go to Washington for some other reason, what would be the three most important "tourist" destinations for you to visit?

My answer: i. National Archives (to remind me of the Declaration of Independence) ii. Vietnam Wall. iii. Jefferson Memorial.

My plan for vacation this Spring Break (in two weeks) was Washington D.C. to see the monuments and all that.

I would protest underage drinking and protest 16 year olds not being treated as an adult and to legalize weed and tax the shit out of it.

I'd want to see the Declaration of Independence in person. Then I'd see the Smithsonian. Not sure on the 3rd.

What would I protest? It would be pretty broad as I think the Bill of Rights have lost their power and if anything bothers me the most, it would be that. How? No idea.

Gee... I didn't ask what you'd protest. I asked where.

Young people these days.

If I was going to show up in person and protest.. I think my first choice would be outside of Washington and probably on the trading floor of the NYSE. Since we are bound my no laws in this "subjective" and "figurative" question, I think that would get the most bang for the buck so to speak.

Threaten the real current "driver" of this country.. the money. It would get more attention than streaking across the White House lawn. ;)

ii. Would probably be tied to the White House is some fashion, but I think I would do some recruiting first at Georgetown and George Washington University.. politically charged students itching for a cause may make an motivating scene if done correctly.

iii. Probably wouldn't be the more effective one, but something like at the feet of the Jefferson Memorial (Or the Constitution Gardens). Since I believe the we have lost sight of the constitution of this country, I would hold it someplace such as this as a backdrop. Again.. it probably wouldn't be effective, but to me, it would be more meaningful than any place where office is being held currently by those that have lost touch with the constitution the most.

Personally.. I would rather launch a viral campaign with a rollout similar to Kony, but instead of violence as the underlying theme I would choose topics like poverty, declining health care and the common struggles of your average American family in a declining America; painting those in D.C. as the tyrants upon the forgotten American way.

As far as visiting D.C.... other than the "The Wall", Arlington, and the other war memorials and maybe a couple of the landmarks of generations ago.. I would have no interest in going there on vacation. Library of Congress and Smithsonian probably would be on the list as well.

Where to protest? Depends on how large the group is. If you have a "Million people" in the group you can't go to the Hill or WH as you would be blocking traffic and they would get rather grumpy about that. You would have to stage the protest on The Mall at the reflecting pool near Mr Lincoln.

If it is a small group why bother. The politicians will only feign interest in your cause and do whatever they damn please which is voting in favor of whichever organization has given them the most money.

You did pick two good locations but I don't see any real changes coming from groups who have gathered there.

As far as sights to see- I did a few of them back in 72 when I went there with my parents and siblings. I need to see The Wall. they have a miniature version of it at a campground right out side town. I have seen it but I need to see the real one.

I have not done a WH or Capital Building tour I should like to check them out. Check out all the monuments once again. And finally spend a month or two in the Smithsonian Complex.

There are just as many places to see outside DC itself. Arlington and watch the Changing of the Guard is high on my list. Get a close up look of the Pentagon would be interesting. Balls Bluff Battlefield is near by I could wander through that for a while.

Once you see the Wall, it's hard to believe it was a controversial design.

I'd sort of like just spend a couple hours wandering around the stones at Arlington. Skip the "big attractions" (Tomb of Unknown, Kennedy, etc), but just wander around being amazed at all the sacrifices those white stones represent.

Of course that's probably illegal now. Or will be by the time I ever get back to DC.

Mucky Tundra (13-Aug) : With LVN that is; need to see what happens in the next practice
Mucky Tundra (13-Aug) : beast, reading about what happened, it sounded like one of those "two guys collide and are moving slow afterwards" type of deals
beast (12-Aug) : I believe Musgrave has been injured every single season since at least a Sophomore in highschool
packerfanoutwest (12-Aug) : Matt LaFleur: “Highly unlikely” Jordan Love plays more this preseason
dfosterf (12-Aug) : Doubs, Savion Williams, LVN, Musgrave all banged up to one degree or another, missing one here I forget

Mucky Tundra (9-Aug) : THE GREEN BAY PACKERS ARE PLAYING FOOTBALL TONIGHT!!!!!! THIS IS NOT A DRILL!!!!
Zero2Cool (9-Aug) : Woo-hoo
TheKanataThrilla (9-Aug) : NFL Network is broadcasting the game tonight, but not in Canada. Not sure why as no local television is showing the game.
beast (8-Aug) : But the Return from IR designations had to be applied by the 53 man cutdown.
beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Apparently it is too complicated for several to follow your simple instructions, but I digress
