The Packers use their both the FS & SS to much in coverage for Landry to be a good fit, he can't cover. Rogers is getting interest from Min, Sea, Det and Jax.

But I find that having more traditionally defined Safties (Collins at FS, Peprah at SS) has worked well in this scheme in the past... although a Nick Collins Burnett surely is not. Perhaps having safties that force us to stick to more traditional roles for S might not be wholly a bad idea, IMO.

Thanks for the stuff Arrigo, as it is interesting to read and ponder; I think it adds some needed sizzle to the forum during off-season. Question: have you heard anything on the Packers perhaps looking into bringing back Brandon Chiller? Bishop is solid and DJ Smith has potential... but I'd feel so much more comfortable with Chillar as our coverage ILB over Hawk.

Brandon Chillar should not be brought back. I believe he was let go because he hadn't returned to form after the shoulder injury. As for A.J. Hawk, perhaps he'll move a bit quicker with his new hairstyle.

Heard today on the web that there is some speculation that we have interest in the battering ram that is Mike Tolbert .

I wonder if that would fill a Kuhn type roll and if there is some concerns about Kuhn for the upcoming season.

There is another way to win you know.. we can run the ball effectively, control the ball and limited the amount of touches another teams offense gets. Not to mention, keeping a defense fresh does wonders as well.

Not saying become a run based team by nature, but when we do build a lead be able to dig in and control the ball and chew up the clock.

If you thought Peprah was bad at covering, well Landry is 10x's worse. Burnett was basically a 1 man S at times last year due to Peprah's coverage deficiencies. They way Capers uses his S Landry would be like Adam Archuletta on GB.

Tolbert would battle for the back-up spot and fill Starks role (who will be the starter this year) and would be the thunder on offense.

I agree that the Packers would be better suited to try and upgrade the tackling on defense. But let's be honest with ourselves, Ted won't spend the money, the BIG MONEY on a defensive player that is not already on the team or willing to take a little less to play in GB. Look for that upgrade via the draft, early and often.

The Packers are talking to Chris Myers, they spoke today for a while, numerous times. Thompson doesn't want any attention brought to any potential Packers moves, especially one that would mean they would be publicly out on Wells (which they are.)
