As mentioned his permanent health is the most important factor. But if Nick can come back, even though it's not going to cure everthing, it is one more piece to the puzzle. His return could, hopefully, allow us to acquire another piece or two. If we can get 2 or 3 pieces it could make a big difference. Chances of that happening are much better if Nick could return. Best wishes to Nick for whatever the future holds.

Came across this article by a doctor doing research on the eifficiency of the surgery that Collins had. It's a very inteliigent insight on the outcomes of previous NFL players that have had spinal surgery, as it talks about players returning that had surgery compared to those that didn't. Here are a couple quotes.

Nearly 3 out of 4 (72 percent) of NFL players who were treated surgically for CDH returned to play and continued to play in an average of 29.3 games over a 2.8-year period after surgery.

Outcomes for the defensive backs were significantly poorer compared to other positions. Among defensive backs who sustained CDH and were treated surgically, just half (6 of 12) returned to play.

I haven't changed my opinion. Nick Collins should retire, period. The only way I'd be 'ok' with him returning is if they said his neck healed up to a point it's as strong as it was prior to the injury. I don't think any doctor would ever put their name to that.
