People used to scoff that Ted Thompson was such a terrible GM who treated veterans so poorly that no free agents would ever want to play for Green Bay. In a recent article about Brandon Saine, however, it was stated the Saine chose to sign with Green Bay because he had done his research and knew that the Packers tend to promote from within. As unfortunate as the injury to Quarless is, it does open the door to another player to step up and receive playing time.

I wonder if this reputation for developing homegrown talent will continue to attract free agents to this team.

Charles Woodson suffered a concussion, medical staff are optimistic he will be able to this week.

James Starks has another ankle injry, status unclear, not a long-term issue.

Andrew Quarless is out for the season, requires surgery.

A.J. Hawk, Desmond Bishop and Josh Sitton are all "getting better" and "getting close" according to Mike McCarthy.

kareemcopeland #packers practice dnp: Starks(ankle), hawk, bishop, sitton, clifton. Woodson (concussion)did participate.

So, only Charles Woodson practiced today.

According to JSO,  Hawk is closer to returning than Bishop.

I'd sit Starks.
It would be nice to have him healthy for the playoffs. If they keep playing him now, he will keep getting hurt.
Let the kid heal.

Mucky Tundra (5-Jan) : Well that didn't take long; Jerod Mayo out as Patriots HC
