I don't know if anyone has posted about the guy. I haven't been able to be here much. But have you noticed how FAST the kid is? I mean, GEEZ, he pulled away from the crowd at a speed i don't think i've ever seen, on that 80 yard punt return. It was like the D was standing still. If he can just learn to NOT muff returns, he could be our version of Hester on returns.

And he's not like Desmond Howard in the way that he can actaully be a good WR as well. He's shown some flashes in that respect.

As for Randall Cobb being better than Desmond Howard as a receiver... I think anyone would have more success pairing with the 2011 group with the rules how they are now, opposed to playing with the 1996 group with how the rules were back then.

Shields was in pursuit on that punt return, ready to pick up blocks, but even he didn't seem to be gaining on Cobb. One thing I notice about Cobb even more than his speed is his acceleration. BOOM!

I was going to start another thread but let's toss it in here until the boss separates it off.

One secret's out. Jordy Nelson is fast, very fast. As much as teammates love to say Nelson's skin color is a deceptive weapon , receptions of 84, 50, 93 and 64 yards have ruined that element of surprise.

Now it's obvious his snow tires are on for the winter.

That said he is not as fast as Cobb. But he can sure bull through an uncommitted DB like on his TD Monday night.

EDIT- It is nice to see you hanging around again Cheesey.

He is the future deep threat.

Send him deep to clear out the safeties and open things up underneath.

I say that Cobb should spend practice doing nothing but taking punts with people running full-bore at him until he doesn't muff 50 in a row. Once he's got the muffs taken care of he's a piece of the puzzle we've been missing for a long time. I'm all for him making amazing plays on offense, but when he muffs punts it makes me die a little inside.

As for the Hester comparisons, the Bears just seem to block on a different level on special teams. Not to take anything away from Hester, but he owes some of his success to excellent special teams blocking. However, I almost have to wonder if the Packers special teams will be inspired and motivated by Cobb... Kind of like how a special quarterback will take the game of his receivers to a new level.

This isn't his first muff and I admit that I'm paying more attention to his bad plays than his good ones, I guess what meant to get across is that he's got talent that most guys will never have, and that some of his concentration issues/etc that result in the occasional muffs can be frustrating, however it's easier for one to get over these concentration issues than it is for one to become faster and more explosive.

    Holy comma splice, Porforis!

    (Good points, however.)

So if Cobb dives for the ball after muffing a punt, does that make him a muff diver?
