This problem that is only growing and has moved into Wisconsin.

So the Illinois DNR is bringing in a chef as part of a "made-for-media event " to sell the public on creating a demand (in part by supplying it to food banks through the Target Hunger Now campaign ) for this pest.

Personally.. I think it a logical idea.. however it will be interesting to see how the public reacts to it. Somehow I think there is going to be push back by trying to use it for feeding the hungry..

They have to do something. Like you said it has grown worse.

The solution of using the carp to feed less fortunate reminds me of the duck problem they once had in Australia.

The peninsula in Queensland has a climate that is similar to Southeast Asia. They grow rice there. The problem was that the ducks would migrate off the mainland in the winter months and congregate in that area of Australia. The ducks loved the rice and would eat almost all of it destroying the crop. Like here in the U.S. there were hunting regulations in place that prevented the locals from matters in to their own hands. The farmers and the government tried all sorts of measures to keep the ducks out of the rice paddies with no success.
Due to pressure from the U.S. the Australians reluctantly agreed to take in some of the Vietnamese refugees. The government didn't know where to locate them. Someone got the bright idea to stick them up in the peninsula area since it was most like the climate they came from.
They got out there into the rice paddy country and thrived. Someone came along to interview them and the subject came around to the ducks. The Vietnamese were asked what they thought about the duck problem. They were stunned. What duck problem was that? The interviewer asked if the ducks were landing in the rice and eating all the grain. No, not any more, they were told. The interviewer was astonished. They wanted to know how the Vietnamese solved the problem.

They said the ducks are delicious.

I think it is a logical idea.. just watching how are society distorts things at times, some might suggest that some group is being used or some warped sense of discrimination.

It's only discrimination if the carp meat is not also made available to restaurants and grocery stores for purchase by people who have a taste for it.[puke]

That would be weird.

I want to go out like my Grandpa did. Peacefully in his sleep.
Not screaming in terror like his passengers.

beast (14h) : Henderson, who admits to taking cocaine during the Super Bowl against the Steelers, might dislike Bradshaw as he lost two Superbowls to him
