Aaron Rodgers feels that the Panthers kept the Packers off balance and they need to run the ball with Ryan Grant and James Starks more.

We probably need to give James and Ryan a few more touches. I'm being honest here. I thought James ran the ball really well. Ryan had a couple of really nice runs as well. It's nice to have that balance and to rush for over 100 yards again. This is going to be something we're going to need to do moving forward.

Aaron Rodgers wrote:

Aaron Rodgers was then asked how serious he was about needing to run more. With a smile he said.

I don't know if I mean it 100 percent, but when those guys are running the ball the way they are ... I think those guys need more touches. Now, it just depends on the flow of the game. Today, we pretty much got the ball after three plays in the first quarter and we were down 13-0 and we were trying to find a rhythm. … So a lot of those calls were situational calls that don't give us a lot of opportunities to run the ball in normal down and distance situations. I think we need to get those guys a couple more touches when necessary. And if we keep throwing the ball effectively, it should give them good opportunities.

Obviously Mr Rodgers hasn't spoken to Mr. ZombieSlayer on the lack of importance of a running game.

It's good to hear our QB being unselfish and showing confidence in his RBs. The ability to run the ball was maybe the biggest difference against Carolina. They kept the Panthers guessing on defense, while the Panther offense was in pure passing mode in the second half, making them more susceptible to turnovers. The run blocking seems a little better this year too. I thought the mix of passing and running was just about right in this game.

I do think we need to run more.

And we need to pass more.

We need more plays, period. Carolina completely dominated ToP that game. We didn't have enough plays. That was more a fault of the D than the O playcalling.

We could use more of the good ol' fashioned making the other team punt.

I think a definite positive yesterday was the run defense. Carolina couldn't get it going, but then again, they didn't really try. They played over half the game with a lead and really forced the passing game. They obviously have confidence in Newton's arm and playmaking ability, but IMO they put way too much of the game on his shoulders. He's still a rookie with occasionally suspect accuracy.
William Henderson didn't have to run people over. His preferred method was levitation.

Now let's take a look at the Detroit Lions yesterday. Detroit forced 4 turnovers as well and made KC punt 5 times. That makes 9 stops. KC scored 3 points and had the ball for under 28 minutes. Whereas Carolina had the ball for over 32 minutes.

So yes, forcing turnovers are awesome. But when it comes to total stops, we fell short. That's the D, not the O. Our O scored points almost every time we touched the ball. They did EXACTLY what they were supposed to do -> score points.

A post with a dose of intelligence, finally! You are correct, the Cobb turnover hurt the offenses time of possession too, not to mention threw the defense back on the field again. I'm sure the facts of it are that didn't help their stamina, lol.
