Much was said about the Saints off season player "get togethers" to rub eachothers butt's and also much was made about the lack of the Packers players doing such a thing. When Aaron Rodgers took to the podium, he said several sarcastic comments about not having off season workouts.

It was a good start for us, I was going to ask myself, what would have happened if we had had offseason workouts? I mean, could we have started any faster and scored more points tonight?

...
I’ve been thinking about this for a month, I’ve been thinking about winning this game, and what I was gonna say afterward. Cause I’ve got a little something. For everyone.

Aaron Rodgers wrote:

Charles Woodson and Aaron Rodgers talked about getting the players together at the Super Bowl ring ceremony and decided against it.

We felt like a lot of guys [on other teams] did it just for the show, We weren’t into that. If we’d done it, it’d be like [critics] pushed us into it.

Charles Woodson wrote:

Aaron Rodgers had this to say when asked if he considered getting the players together to silence crictics.

Yes, and that would have been the only reason.

This is a quote from Aaron Rodgers when speaking on Randall Cobb running the wrong route.

Surprisingly, we didn't have offseason workouts, Surprisingly, I was able to read his body language there and he made a nice catch and run for a touchdown.

I thought this comment was unnecessary.

I thought Rodgers went a little overboard with some of it. Sure, mention it once, but two, three and more times? You answered the question on the field, that's what we care about, that speaks louder POSITIVELY than anything you can possibly say in front of a microphone.

I agree, he was over the top with it. Must have fielded a lot of questions about it this week. Just touch on it once and move on.

Is it over the top though? I mean the media wouldn't fucking shut up about it for the last 4 months. I agree he could have been more subtle, but man. Eye for an eye sometimes.

I agree with Twinkiegorilla.

Yeah, but then you are just getting down to their level. If you don't like it when they do it, maybe you shouldn't do it either. Anyway, I thought he addressed it right off the top and could have moved on.

Meh. I thought it was funny. But then again, I like cockiness.

I thought as well he mentioned it too many times.. but...

IMO.. Aaron is not done kicking the sand in Florio's face yet.. and being it was an NBC game (profootballtalk being an NBC site) with his site mentioning this for the 1,007th time this offseason.. he was making a point.. IMO.. and he was singling out Florio and the types with the statements..

Also during the presser.. he seemed to be focused in one direction with his eyesight during the comments.. but I could be reading to much into it there.

Saints at Packers

Florio’s take: The home team has won the regular-season opener since 2003. The Saints will be the first team to play in the Thursday night opener three times. The lockout workouts conducted by the Saints could be the difference against the Packers, who got together as a team during the lockout only to collect their Super Bowl rings.

Florio’s pick: Saints 28, Packers 24.

Redemption. I love it. I absolutely love it. Good for Aaron for shoving it in their faces, the bastards. The guy plays with a chip on his shoulder even after winning the Super Bowl.

It should also be noted that in the final preseason game, the Packers played the Chiefs, whose QB, Matt Cassell, had gotten the team together at his house for off-season workouts. The Packer offense was so polished in that game that they scored one easy TD, then took the rest of the game off. The Chiefs offense was such a disaster, even against the Packers' second and third stringers, that their coach made them play the entire game. In the process, Cassell got squashed by Howard Green and their starting TE got hurt and is out for the season. So much for players-only workouts.
