The Green Bay Packers kept just eight offensive linemen on the 53-man roster after Saturday’s cuts. The starters remain – LT Chad Clifton, LG T.J. Lang, C Scott Wells, RG Josh Sitton and RT Bryan Bulaga. The reserves include LT Derek Sherrod, C/G Evan Dietrich-Smith and RT Marshall Newhouse.
The release of Nick McDonald was a bit of a surprise. He was the backup center throughout camp and rotated with the second group at left guard in the preseason finale. That game was horrid for McDonald. He had a snap over Matt Flynn’s head the ended up as a safety and added a false start.
Still, he was confident after the game.
“You’ve got to be confident and stay positive,” McDonald said. “You’re going to have your plays where you make mistakes. You’ve got to move on from it.”
