Lambeau expansion

looks like they will cut the waiting list line down a little.

The expansion of the south end zone will add roughly 6,600 seats to Lambeau Field beginning with the 2013 season, and the Packers won’t be asking for any taxpayer dollars to pay for it.

That’s the crux of the stadium development plans announced by the Packers on Thursday. The expansion of the south end zone will conclude a three-year redevelopment phase of the stadium that began with the installation of a new sound system this year.

For 2012, new video boards will be installed and a new tower will be constructed in the north end zone that will include a new entrance gate and outdoor rooftop viewing platform. The rooftop platform also will be available for special events on non-game days.

Once the new video board is in place in the south end zone next year, the framework for the entire expansion will be in place, with the project being completed in 2013. The 6,600 new seats, all outdoors, will be tiered vertically in four levels above the stadium bowl and will rise as high as the current banks of lights in that end zone.

Personally.. I would rather leave that south open.. those yearly fall games need all the "airflow" possible and the south end zone helps provide some.

Not to mention the added elements to the kicking game.

Oh well.. revenues need to be increased I suppose.

I heard of a stock sale was in the works a while back and now I am giddy with the prospect of buying one!!

At least this will SLIGHTLY accelerate my position on the waiting list! I really don't want the opportunity for another 10 years or so anyway as I should be in better position to afford them then. I shouldn't have any worries though, it will take MUCH longer than 10 years anyway!

10 million a year in added revenue verse a $130 million dollar outlay.. ROI 13 years (on direct investment not "real" value in terms of interest, etc).. hmmm.. And here before the CBA we were worried about them not being able to reink guys with the signing bonuses.. lol.

BTW.. why do I think of the SuperBowl seating issue when I look at those decks.. boy would I be pissed if those became my season tickets.

The Green Bay Packers announced Thursday that they will add approximately 6,600 new seats in the south end-zone area of Lambeau Field and will add a new gate and rooftop viewing platform in the north end zone.

The project is expected to cost $130 million. The franchise also announced it would move up its construction plans, and now will schedule a groundbreaking on the project on Sept. 1.

The team had initially said it would break ground after the Super Bowl this season.

As expected, the Packers said they would finance the project, which is expected to be completed in time for the 2013 season, with no public tax dollars. And the team said they were still considering a stock sale; it would be the fifth such time the Packers have offered such a sale.

there are 3 things I don't like about the new seats.
1. Even with the new gate I will have to fight past 6600 more people to get in to the stadium.
2. Because this my free street parking space my be gone by the time I get there.
3. I will have to crane my neck to look up at the video board. 😞

but I am willing to do this so all of you who are sitting in your living rooms eating and drinking cheaply will have a better gameday experience. 😂

With low interest and the economy now is a good time to do it.

Enclosing it may make it a little warmer in September but it will also make it a little warmer in December.

If the Packers do get it passed by the NFL to sell shares of the team to help fund this expansion, how much does a share usually go for? I typed it into Google and $200 came up a few times. Does that sound reasonable?

That's what it cost last time. Who knows what it will be this time. I would think about the same taking into account inflation.
