Players turn in their playbooks at the end of the season, they don't carry them around during the off season with them. I believe this is because they may be cut or traded and obviously coaches will take pages out, add pages, etc ...

The injury risk far outweighed the reward of working out in the off season. The off season workout get togethers were media hyped, don't fall into the trap and use that thing between ya ears.

This year we will be getting everyone best shot because for some this will be their Super Bowl and we should have been doing the extra effort and not get the inflated heads.

Oh ya and your injury risk excuse is very lame, so I guess we should never have the 3 months of OTA's because someone might get hurt, hell we better not even practice at all. I know why don't they just have each team pick a player and they can just play Madden for the season that way noone will get hurt.

Plain and simple the Super Bowl Hangover aka inflated EGOs got to the Packers, Now lets see what they can do with it, I am hoping we lose like the 1st 2 games and that would get them back into reality.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

I said the RISK vs REWARD was not worth it, don't be an obtuse prick about it. The workouts don't net much help at all and if a player gets injured it's a huge loss.

If Aaron Rodgers got the offense together and tore his ACL, you'd be the first in line bitching about how stupid Aaron was for doing it.

Admit it, you will twist anything into something you can bitch an complain about it. Hell, I gave a straight forward point and you twisted that around to give yourself something to whine about.

The part I don't understand in this is how are we playing catch up, our team was just on the field a few months ago compared to other teams that hasn't been doing anything since january. We can call the core of this team (starters) all vets and should know their system, it's not like we have a new coach on offense or defense or a rookie starting some where. But then again we are playing catch up to the teams like the Saints and Jets that their leaders got their teams together during the lockout and worked together and I am sure went thru their playbooks with the rookies.

Personally, I don't think the offseason player only workouts truly helped past conditioning and maybe team continuity. I think the risks there outweighed the benefits overall.. plus it was more or less a PR move on the players part in the Lockout.. "they wanted to play".

I disagree with the basis of the article if they are trying to claim that we are playing "catch up" to other teams.. if anything like Wayne mentioned in the OP.. we are more like everyone else. More like we are behind from the normal year in terms of our team development.. and trying to catch up in comparison to another year. And there again.. we are just like all other 32 teams.. behind.

Hence why I think the opening part of the season will be sloppier ball.. less points because the offenses will still be polishing the timing and what not. I expect many a turnover early in the season.. well more than that typical year that is.

You'd think being a Packers fan, people would be understanding about anything that can bring on injuries to our players...

I haven't seen a Super Bowl hang over from any of our players. If anything, Rodgers said he hated the mass attention he was receiving after winning. I don't understand why a fan of a team would want that team to lose a game or 2. [palm]

Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Apparently it is too complicated for several to follow your simple instructions, but I digress
