I think Rodgers was being politically correct when he said that about Favre.
What he really meant, but was to proper to say is. He watched Favre not work out in the off season, not participate in the pre season and not take care of the ball during the season (to rebel against the new management holding him accountable). Going on to have the worst 2 seasons of his career. Then he saw Favre work out, participate and prepare, and go on to have one of his best as a Packer.
It doesn't take a rocket surgeon to figure out that regardless of how talented you are, if you actually try hard all the time, instead of just during the games, it makes you a lot better.
Rodgers was trying to not stir up anything to take the focus off the team and how they played that year. The Media was trying to get a juicy story. Rodgers was going out of his way not to give them one.
