Getting married makes you fat
In the past 30 years, the number of obese people has nearly doubled. Half a billion people worldwide suffer from obesity and the trend is rising. Married people are being thicker than singles.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has recognized in the period from 1980 to 2008, extensive data on diet and weight. To determine whether someone is obese or not, the body mass index (BMI) was used. In 1980, the BMI was at 7.9 percent of women and 4.8 percent of men too high. 2008 already 9.4 percent of men and 13.8 of women were overweight.
Married are more likely to overweight
Marital status plays a crucial role for the character. 69 percent of married men are overweight. Among the single men, however, only 43 percent are struggling with excess pounds.
Also very interesting: 52 percent of married women are affected by overweight and only 25 percent of unmarried women. In this group, even every 14th Underweight. A study shows that one in five bride after the wedding brings around 10 pounds heavier on the scales.
The figures of course do not betray the cause which causes obesity in couples. Whether it is the fantastic cuisine or the convenience of the party now, is clear: overweight is not healthy. And instead of the evening lounging on the couch, you could go for a jog together. Then it can also depend much nicer together.
