I wouldn't offer him forgiveness. If he came to the people of Packer Nation, owned up to his actions and sincerely apologized, then sure.
If he pulls a Pete Rose and apologizes like Bluto after he smashed the guitar. Then not a chance.
Just admitting that the Packers have a good team and will probably will win the super bowl isn't even a start. He can do that and still hate and want to disgrace the organization.
Until he does really apologize, and mean it, he can go pound sand. As far as I am concerned.
That isn't for going to MN, or fake retiring to weasel out of his contract. Or for calling out players for wanting out of their contracts. It is for sticking it to the team by decoding his playbook for the Lions and several other unnamed teams. The sabotage of Rodgers season is such a dishonorable act, I won't look the other way and pretend it didn't happen. Leaving was just being a jerk. The sabotage was disgraceful and I can't respect an honor-less person like that by retiring his jersey.

Was this ever more than just a rumor?

Jay Glazer and his producers stood by the story 100% as it was written. They said they talked to the parties in question. According to the article, the Lions admitted it. The other teams wouldn't go on record, but did talk. If Glazer lied, they could be sued. The editors and the legal staff wouldn't let that story see the light of day and risk a lawsuit without solid sources.
Favre first denied the story and then changed it to "It wasn't that bad, everybody does it."
Chilly and Bevil also admitted they were talking with Favre at that time, so I would say if he is going to decode his playbook for the Lions, he is going to do it for the Vikings. It isn't a huge leap if you ask me. Specially since Glazer said other teams admitted it off record. I threw in the Bears because the article mentions more than one team that wouldn't go on record. So that is a minimum of 3 and Favre would be able to do the most damage by going to the NFCN.
That is probably why he said it wasn't going to work out when Thompson got the roster exemption and said Favre could come into camp. He knew the other NFCN teams had the Packers playbook. He would have had to face them after he helped them out.
I want to go out like my Grandpa did. Peacefully in his sleep.
Not screaming in terror like his passengers.
