Barry Sanders quit because he realized the Lions were NOT committed to winning and after the game he was in the locker room and it all hit him and it wasn't fun for him anymore. This was a very difficult thing for him to do, to walk away because it went against his moral belief of being loyal, to his team and contract specifically.
He played for 10 years and for each of those years he was considered one of the top three in the NFL, yes even as a rookie he was considered one of the best in the league. Rightfully so. Did you ever see him spike the ball? Show boat? Draw attention to himself? NO, never! The only time I ever seen him act out was when Terrell Buckley poked him in the eye. To of which he wore a visor for the remainder of his career.
